...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MST THIS
EVENING...

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...An additional 3 to 7 inches with locally
higher amounts along the highest west facing mountain slopes.

* TIMING...Snow, heavy at times, will continue through midday
before gradually diminishing late today into early evening.

* WINDS...West to southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to to 45
mph today becoming westerly 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph
tonight.

* SNOW LEVELS...Snow accumulation levels around 6500 feet.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Significant reductions in visibility due to
heavy snowfall and blowing snow will create hazardous
conditions. Travel will be difficult at times due to
snowpacked and icy roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow means
severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.
Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel
dangerous. Strong winds are likely. Only travel in an emergency.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Storm total snowfall amounts of 8 to 14 inches near and above
7500 feet and 5 to 10 inches below 7500 feet.

* TIMING...Snow, heavy at times, will continue through the
afternoon before diminishing late today into early evening.

* WINDS...West to southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to to 45
mph today becoming westerly 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph
tonight.

* SNOW LEVELS...Temperatures will be cold enough for snow all
areas.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Significant reductions in visibility due to
heavy snowfall and blowing snow will create hazardous
conditions. Travel will be difficult at times due to
snowpacked and icy roads.

EVENING...

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 to 4 inches below 7500 feet and 4 to 8
inches above 7500 feet. Locally higher amounts up to 10 inches
over the higher west facing slopes and peaks of the Jemez and
western mountains.

* TIMING...Snow, briefly heavy at times, will continue through
early afternoon before gradually diminishing late today into
early evening.

* WINDS...West to southwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to to 40
mph today becoming westerly 10 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph tonight.

* SNOW LEVELS...Temperatures will be cold enough for snow at all
locations today with a mix of rain and snow near and below 6500
feet during the afternoon.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Roads may become snow covered and icy at times
especially on bridges and overpasses. Sudden reductions in
visibility due to the snow and blowing snow can be expected. A
flash freeze scenario will be possible this evening due to
rapidly dropping temperatures and residual moisture on road surfaces.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
visibilities will be restricted due to a combination of falling
and blowing snow.
