* At 1043 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain slowly moving south across Johnson County KS and
Jackson County MO. Rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour for
several hours may lead to as much as 6 inches of rain in places
through the flash flood warning area. Flash flooding is expected
to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Overland Park, Olathe, Lee's Summit, Lenexa, Leawood, Grandview,
Gardner, De Soto, Spring Hill, Greenwood, Lake Lotawana, Edgerton,
Lone Jack, Unity Village, Clare, Lackmans, Stillwell, Clearview
City and Stanley.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 AM CDT FOR
WYANDOTTE...LEAVENWORTH...NORTHERN JOHNSON...SOUTHEASTERN PLATTE AND
JACKSON COUNTIES...

At 1116 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that heavy rain was falling over the area. Radar estimates that
many areas have seen between 3 and 6 inches of rainfall. Automated
gauges show similar rainfall amounts. Additionally there have been
numerous reports of flash flooding is already occurring throughout
the warned area. Rainfall is expected to continue through the night
and it's possible another 2 to 4 inches of rain will fall before
sunrise.

Kansas City, Overland Park, Independence, Lee's Summit, Shawnee, Blue
Springs, Lenexa, Leawood, Raytown, Prairie Village, Grain Valley,
Lansing, Merriam, Mission, Oak Grove, Bonner Springs, De Soto,

* At 1201 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with very
heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is already
occurring, and will continue to worsen through the early morning
hours. Water rescues are ongoing throughout the Kansas City area,
and creeks and streams are rising rapidly.

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for the Kansas City Metropolitan
Area. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND
NOW!

EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Kansas and Missouri, including the following
areas, in Kansas, Atchison KS, Doniphan, Johnson KS,
Leavenworth, Linn KS, Miami, and Wyandotte. In Missouri,
Andrew, Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Cass, Chariton,
Clay, Clinton, Daviess, De Kalb, Grundy, Henry, Jackson,
Johnson MO, Lafayette, Linn MO, Livingston, Pettis, Platte,
Ray, Saline, and Sullivan.

* From 10 PM CDT this evening through Tuesday morning

* A storm system with a slow moving cold front will bring periods
of moderate to heavy rain to the watch area late tonight into
Tuesday morning. Total rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches appear
likely, however some areas may receive higher amounts before
rain comes to an end late Tuesday morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead

* At 18.4 feet...Flood waters reach homes and garages along West
106th Street, West 106th Terrace, West 103rd Street, Robinson,
Lamar, Horton, Indian Creek Drive, Indian Creek Parkwary, Beverly,
West 107th Street, and El Monte.
* At 16.5 feet...Flood waters approach homes along Conser Street.
* At 15.1 feet...Flood waters reach Antioch Road 600 feet north of
Indian Creek. Water also reaches buildings near the creek along
Antioch Road West 106th Circle and El Monte cul de sac.
* At 14.3 feet...Flood waters threaten basements along lowell and
antioch road.
* At 8.0 feet...Low-lying land along the creek begins to flood,

a line extending from Linwood to near Mission Hills. Movement was
southeast at 35 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.

Grandview, Belton, Prairie Village, Raymore, Gardner, Merriam,
