THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM
FRIDAY TO 5 PM MST SATURDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 3 AND 7 INCHES
EXPECTED.

* TIMING...ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL START BY OR A LITTLE BEFORE DAWN
FRIDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY.

* WINDS...MAINLY SOUTHEAST WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH FRIDAY MORNING
BECOMING LIGHTER THEREAFTER.

* SNOW LEVELS...SNOW ACCUMULATION LEVELS SHOULD BE AT THE SURFACE
DURING MOST OF THE EVENT...BUT THERE IS A CHANCE THAT A LITTLE
RAIN OR SLEET COULD MIX IN FRIDAY AFTERNOON WHICH...IF IT
OCCURS...WOULD CUT DOWN ON ACCUMULATIONS SOMEWHAT.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...HEAVY WET SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE AT HIGHER
ELEVATIONS...ESPECIALLY ABOVE 7500 FEET MAKING TRAVEL
DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE AT THOSE ELEVATIONS.

THE WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 2
AM FRIDAY TO 5 PM MST SATURDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...EXPECT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 4 TO
6 INCHES BELOW 7500 FEET AND 6 TO 10 INCHES ABOVE 7500 FEET. THE
HIGHEST ELEVATIONS WILL SEE ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 12 AND 16
INCHES. GUADALUPE COUNTY WILL SEE A WIDE RANGE IN SNOW TOTALS
WITH 1 TO 4 INCHES POSSIBLE ACROSS THE EAST AND 4 TO 7 INCHES
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE WEST.

* TIMING...THE MORE SIGNIFICANT SNOW WILL START FRIDAY MORNING
AND CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY ON SATURDAY.

* WINDS...NO SIGNIFICANT WINDS ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM
SYSTEM.

* SNOW LEVELS...SNOW LEVELS WILL FLUCTUATE BETWEEN THE SURFACE AND
JUST ABOVE THE SURFACE DEPENDING ON THE TIME OF DAY.
THEREFORE...RAIN MAY MIX WITH SNOW AT INITIAL ONSET AS WELL AS
DURING THE AFTERNOON AND AWHILE INTO THE EVENING...ESPECIALLY
ACROSS GUADALUPE COUNTY.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...HEAVY WET SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE ON ROADWAYS...
ESPECIALLY IF SNOW RATES ARE HIGH. WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS
ARE EXPECTED AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY ABOVE 7500 FEET.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...EXPECT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 2 TO 5
INCHES WITH LOCALLY UP TO 6 INCHES ACROSS THE HIGHEST
ELEVATIONS. THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY WILL
SEE ANYWHERE BETWEEN A HALF INCH AND JUST OVER 2 INCHES.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL START EARLY FRIDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE
THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY ON SATURDAY.

* WINDS...EAST TO SOUTHEAST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 40
MPH BELOW THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CANYONS FRIDAY MORNING OTHERWISE
ELSEWHERE LIGHTER WINDS ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM SYSTEM.

* SNOW LEVELS...SNOW LEVELS WILL FLUCTUATE BETWEEN THE SURFACE AND
JUST ABOVE THE SURFACE DEPENDING ON THE TIME OF DAY DURING THE
EVENT. THEREFORE...RAIN WILL MIX WITH SNOW AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY
WITHIN THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...WET SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE ON SOME ROADS MAINLY
LATER AT NIGHT AND THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS...MAKING TRAVEL
HAZARDOUS. WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ALONG WITHIN
THE FOOTHILL AREAS OF ALBUQUERQUE AND SANTA FE AS WELL AS RURAL
PORTIONS OF INTERSTATE 40 WEST OF ALBUQUERQUE.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW
WILL PRIMARILY CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW
