COASTAL FLOODING EXPECTED ALONG WITH SEVERE BEACH EROSION.

* TIMING...DURING THE EARLY TUESDAY MORNING HIGH TIDE AND AGAIN
FOR THE LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON HIGH TIDE.

* IMPACTS...FLOODING OF VULNERABLE SHORE ROADS AND BASEMENTS WILL
OCCUR DURING THE TUESDAY EARLY MORNING AND LATE AFTERNOON HIGH
TIDES. SOME STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IS LIKELY IN THE MORE VULNERABLE
LOCATIONS. SEVERE BEACH EROSION IS EXPECTED FOR BOTH TUESDAY
HIGH TIDE CYCLES. EROSION WILL BE A PARTICULAR CONCERN FOR
PORTIONS OF PLUM ISLAND AND ALONG THE EAST FACING SHORELINES OF
ORLEANS...CHATHAM AND NANTUCKET FOR BOTH TIDE CYCLES. SEVERE
EROSION IS ALSO POSSIBLE ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF CAPE COD FROM
SANDWICH TO EASTHAM DURING THE TUESDAY LATE AFTERNOON HIGH TIDE. THIS

TO BE FORMED ALONG BARRIER BEACHES.

* WINDS...NORTH 35 TO 45 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 70 TO 80 MPH.

* TIMING...THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE TONIGHT INTO EARLY TUESDAY.

* IMPACTS...NEAR HURRICANE FORCE WIND GUSTS WILL LIKELY RESULT
IN DOWNED TREES AND POWER OUTAGES. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE
WHERE HEAVY WET SNOW ACCUMULATES ADDING TO THE POTENTIAL FOR
WIND DAMAGE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH WIND WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OF 40 MPH ARE
EXPECTED FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR...WITH GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR GREATER
AT ANY TIME. DAMAGE TO TREES...POWER LINES...AND PROPERTY ARE
POSSIBLE WITH WIND OF THIS MAGNITUDE. POWER OUTAGES ARE LIKELY.

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY WET SNOW ALONG WITH NEAR BLIZZARD
CONDITIONS POSSIBLE.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES.

* TIMING...SNOW BECOMING HEAVY INTO TONIGHT BEFORE SWITCHING TO
RAIN DURING THE DAY TUESDAY. AS WINDS SHIFT BACK TO THE NORTH
AND NORTHWEST LATE TUESDAY...RAIN WILL TRANSITION BACK OVER TO A
PERIOD OF HEAVY SNOW BEFORE ENDING WEDNESDAY.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS MAY RESULT IN WHITE-OUT /
NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WITH LOW VISIBILITY AT TIMES. TRAVEL
WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE AND LIFE THREATENING ACROSS THE ENTIRE
REGION. ALSO SNOW WILL BE WET ENOUGH TO RESULT IN DOWNED TREES
AND POWER OUTAGES IN ADDITION TO THE HURRICANE FORCE WINDS.

* WINDS...NORTH 30 TO 50 MPH WITH GUSTS AROUND 70 TO 80 MPH. THE
HEIGHT OF THE WINDS WILL BE LATE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY.

* VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN AN AVERAGE OF 6 OR MORE
INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED IN A 12 HOUR PERIOD...OR FOR 8 OR MORE
INCHES IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. TRAVEL WILL BE SLOW AT BEST ON WELL
TREATED SURFACES...AND QUITE DIFFICULT ON ANY UNPLOWED OR
UNTREATED SURFACES.

ALL UNNECESSARY TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED! THIS IS A SERIOUS LIFE-
