The North Fork Kentucky River at Hazard.
* until this evening.
* at 11:30 PM Wednesday the stage was 18.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will rise to above flood stage overnight
and crest at a stage of 22.6 feet early Thursday morning.
The river will fall below flood stage by early Thursday afternoon.
* At 20.0 feet...Low lying areas flood. The street at the mouth of
Big Bottom Branch is flooded.

SOME LOCATIONS. EXPECT FLOODING TO CONTINUE IN THESE AREAS THROUGH
AT LEAST THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED.
STREAM RISES WILL BE SLOW AND FLASH FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED.
HOWEVER...ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS
IMMEDIATELY.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED

* COLDER AIR WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE IN FROM NORTHWEST THROUGH THE
NIGHT...CHANGING PRECIPITATION FROM RAIN...TO A MIXTURE OF
FREEZING RAIN...SLEET...AND THEN TO SNOW. THEN TRANSITIONING TO
ALL SNOW THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. SNOW SHOULD LIGHTEN AND
TAPER OFF BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 8 INCHES WITH HIGHER
AMOUNTS POSSIBLE...THE HIGHEST SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS
GENERALLY NORTH OF THE CUMBERLAND PARKWAY TO HAL ROGERS PARKWAY
TO KY HIGHWAY 80 CORRIDOR. ANY ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL GENERALLY
BE A TENTH OF AN INCH OR LESS.

* SNOW OF THIS MAGNITUDE WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT TO
TREACHEROUS. IN ADDITION...THE HEAVY WET NATURE OF THIS SNOW
WILL CAUSE STRESS ON WEAK STRUCTURES AND COULD ALSO LEAD TO
DOWNED POWER LINES AND TREES WITH WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES
