...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING THROUGH
MONDAY MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of central Illinois and
west central Illinois, including the following areas, in
central Illinois, Mason, Tazewell, and Woodford. In west
central Illinois, Cass, Morgan, and Scott.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Monday morning

* Periods of heavy rainfall are expected over the weekend. By
Monday morning, a large area of 4 to 5 inches of rain is
expected near the Illinois River, with locally heavier amounts
possible. At the current time...the heaviest rain is expected
Saturday afternoon into early Sunday.

* In addition to potential flooding of streets and roads in
flood prone areas, area rivers and streams are also likely to
experience flooding. This would persist for several days after
the rain ends.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

The Mackinaw River near Congerville.
* From Sunday afternoon until Wednesday afternoon.
* At 945 AM Friday the stage was 2.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Sunday afternoon and continue
to rise to near 17.9 feet by Monday afternoon.The river will fall
below flood stage by Wednesday morning.

The Illinois River near Peoria.
* From Monday afternoon until further notice.
* At 1245 PM Friday the stage was 15.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Monday afternoon and continue
to rise to near 29.0 feet by Thursday evening.
* Impact...At 29.0 feet...Water overtops Pekin and LaMarsh levee at
the railroad crossing. Constitution Avenue becomes inundated.
