The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory, which is in effect from 2 AM Friday to 8 AM EDT

* LOCATIONS...Northern Connecticut, southwest and south central

* HAZARD TYPES...A mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 4 inches.
Highest snow and sleet amounts closest to the Massachusetts
turnpike. A tenth to one quarter inch of ice accretion is
possible above 800 feet.

* TIMING...Snow and sleet will overspread the region between 2 and
6 am Friday morning. The precipitation will be mixed with light
rain in the lower elevations. A wintry mix will continue at
times into Friday afternoon, before precipitation changes to
mainly rain sometime Friday night. However, pockets of freezing
rain will persist in the hills of northeast Connecticut and
southern Worcester Hills.

* IMPACTS...The greatest concern is in the hills of northeast
Connecticut as well as the Worcester Hills, where temperatures
will be colder. Untreated roads may be slippery for both the
Friday morning and Friday evening rush hours in the high
terrain. In the lower elevations, roads will probably be mainly
wet but some slippery spots can not be ruled out.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
