The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of central Wyoming, north central
Wyoming, and northwest Wyoming, including the following areas,
in central Wyoming, Upper Wind River Basin, Wind River Basin,
and Wind River Mountains East. In north central Wyoming,
Bighorn Mountains Southeast, Bighorn Mountains West, and
Southeast Big Horn Basin. In northwest Wyoming, Absaroka
Mountains, Cody Foothills, North Big Horn Basin, and Teton and
Gros Ventre Mountains.

* From Sunday morning through Monday afternoon

* Creeks and rivers have been running at high levels during the
last two days due to accelerated snowmelt runoff. Widespread
mountain rain showers expected on Sunday will cause additional
significant increases in creek and river levels. Many basins
will receive up to one half inch of rain Sunday morning through
Sunday night with local amounts of up to one inch possible with

Several creeks and rivers will reach flows and river levels to
cause minor to moderate flooding. The flooding flows will
continue through Monday afternoon.

* Several creeks and rivers will reach flows and river levels to

* Snake River Basin: Expect minor flooding along Pacific Creek and
minor to moderate flooding along the Gros Ventre River near
Kelly. Flows along the Gros Ventre River near Kelly may reach
5,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) by Monday morning. Flows
along the Snake River near Jackson may reach 22,000 cfs by
Monday afternoon.

* North/South Forks Shoshone Basins: Minor flooding expected along
South Fork Shoshone River; forecasted to reach river levels
between bankfull and minor flood stage by Monday morning. The
North Fork of the Shoshone River is forecasted to rise to near
minor flood stage of 8.0 feet by early Monday morning.

* Wind River Basin: The Wind River near Dubois is expected to
crest between 5.5 and 5.6 feet by Monday morning. Moderate flood
stage is 5.5 feet. The Wind River at Riverton is expected to
rise to near 10.0 feet by Monday afternoon with additional rises
expected. Minor flood flows are between 9.0 and 11.0 feet.

* Big Horn River Basin: Medicine Lodge and Tensleep Creeks are
expected to reach at or above flood stage by early Sunday
morning. Creeks will stay at very high levels through Monday
afternoon. Shell Creek near Shell is expected to rise at or
above bankfull flows (2,000 cfs) by Monday morning.

* Powder River Basin: Clear Creek at Buffalo is expected to crest
between bankfull and minor flood stage by Monday morning.


A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
