...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR

* A PORTION OF CENTRAL WYOMING...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...
OWL CREEK AND BRIDGER MOUNTAINS AND SOUTHWEST BIG HORN BASIN.

* THROUGH LATE TONIGHT

* SATURATED TO NEAR SATURATED SOILS FROM RECENT RAINFALL WILL
COMBINE WITH AREAS OF POTENTIAL HEAVY RAIN ACROSS HOT SPRINGS
COUNTY THROUGH LATE TONIGHT. THE THREAT OF FLASH FLOODING WILL
BE ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND IRRIGATION CANALS IN AND NEAR THE
FOOTHILLS OF THE OWL CREEK AND BRIDGER MOUNTAINS. A STRONG
SPRING STORM WILL PRODUCE CONDITIONS FAVORABLE FOR PROLONGED
HEAVY RAIN WITH RAINFALL RATES OF AN INCH TO AN INCH AND A HALF
AN HOUR WITH TOTAL RAINFALL OF 2 TO 4 INCHES POSSIBLE.

* FLOODING OF ROADS AT NIGHT POSE A SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO
MOTORISTS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS AS THE
ROAD MAY BE WASHED OUT. TURN AROUND...DO NOT DROWN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.

NORTH CENTRAL FREMONT COUNTIES UNTIL 900 AM MDT MONDAY...

AT 1154 PM MDT...LIGHT SHOWERS REMAINED OVER THE AREA WITH
OCCASIONAL LIGHT RAIN EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVERNIGHT. MOST
RIVERS...CREEKS AND STREAMS IN THE AREA HAD CRESTED AND WERE SLOWLY
RECEDING. SOME RISES MAY STILL OCCUR OVERNIGHT...ESPECIALLY ALONG
KIRBY CREEK EAST OF THERMOPOLIS. ACCORDING TO THE WYOMING
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION...U.S. HWY 20 THROUGH THE WIND RIVER
CANYON WILL LIKELY REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL SOMETIME TUESDAY DUE TO ROCK
AND MUDSLIDES.

SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...THERMOPOLIS...
BOYSEN STATE PARK HEADQUARTERS...HOT SPRINGS STATE PARK...KIRBY...
LUCERNE...STATE HWY 172 MILE MARKER 10...U.S. HWY 20/789 MILE MARKER
120 AND U.S. HWY 20/789 MILE MARKER 130.

THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING STREAMS AND DRAINAGES...BIGHORN
RIVER...KIRBY CREEK...ALKALI CREEK...BUFFALO CREEK...WEST KIRBY
CREEK...JONES CREEK.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE-QUARTER TO ONE-HALF INCH ARE
POSSIBLE IN THE ADVISORY AREA TONIGHT.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS
AND STREAMS...COUNTRY ROADS...NORMALLY DRY WASHES...AS WELL AS
FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY. DO NOT
ENTER THE WATER. TURN AROUND AND MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND. DO NOT
STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

REPORT FLOODING TO THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY SO THAT THEY
MAY TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO CLOSE FLOODED ROADWAYS. THEY WILL
RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RIVERTON.
