...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
11 AM MST FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for Heavy Snow and Blowing Snow, which is in effect
from 5 PM this afternoon to 11 AM MST Friday. The Winter Storm
Watch is no longer in effect.

* TIMING...Snow will begin in the early evening and continue
through Friday morning. The snow may be heavy at times tonight
through Thursday afternoon.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...4 to 8 inches in the Laramie Valley
and Upper North Platte Valley, otherwise 6 to 12 inches in lower
elevations west of the Laramie Range. 10 to 15 inches over the
southern and central Laramie Range. Up to 2 feet of snow is possible
over the northern Laramie Range.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...East to northeast winds 10 to 20 MPH with
higher gusts. Visibilities may be reduced to under one half
mile at times in falling and blowing snow.

* IMPACTS...Mainly to transportation. Icy and snow packed roads
and low visibilities could lead to dangerous or impossible
travel conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight...
food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM MST
FRIDAY...

* TIMING...Periods of snow will continue through Friday morning.
The snow will be heavy at times.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...1 to 2 feet. Locally higher amounts
are possible.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY...Winds variable in direction 10 to 20 MPH
with gusts up to 30 MPH. Visibilities will be reduced to under
one half mile at times in falling snow.

* IMPACTS...High impacts for travel and outdoor recreation.
Expect extremely dangerous or impossible mountain travel with
icy and snow packed roads and periods of low visibility. Those
with outdoor interests in the Snowy and Sierra Madre mountain
ranges should be prepared for severe winter conditions which
will be dangerous and life threatening to anyone caught
unprepared.
