* FROM THIS AFTERNOON TO WEDNESDAY EVENING.
* AT 10:00 AM TUESDAY THE STAGE WAS 9.6 FEET.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 18.0 FEET.
* MODERATE FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE AROUND 3 PM
TUESDAY AND CREST NEAR 21.5 FEET AROUND 10 PM TUESDAY. THE RIVER
WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE WEDNESDAY EARLY AFTERNOON.
* IMPACT...AT 20.0 FEET...THE COWLITZ RIVER WILL CAUSE FLOODING FROM
THE VICINITY OF RANDLE DOWNSTREAM THROUGH RIFFE LAKE...INUNDATING
MANY ROADS INCLUDING US HIGHWAY 12 AND MUCH OF THE FARM LANDS.

* FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE AROUND 4 PM
TUESDAY AND CREST NEAR 10.6 FEET AROUND 4 PM TUESDAY. THE RIVER
WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE LATE THIS AFTERNOON.

* HEAVY RAIN LAST NIGHT AND TODAY WILL CAUSE FLOODING IN ADDITIONAL
AREAS TO THE MAJOR RIVERS IN THE WARNING AREA. THIS WILL INCLUDE
OTHER STREAMS AND CREEKS AND LOW LYING AREAS. THE HEAVIEST RAIN IS
ENDING IN THIS AREA NOW AND STREAMS WILL SOON BE CRESTING AND
BEGINNING TO FALL THIS EVENING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON
SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...AND PONDING OF WATER ON COUNTRY ROADS AND
FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IMMINENT. MOST FLOOD
RELATED DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS WATER
COVERED BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A
FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER

* THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT

* RAIN...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE IN THE CASCADES TODAY
THROUGH WEDNESDAY. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2.5 TO 5
INCHES ARE LIKELY...WHILE THE SNOW LEVEL IS 6500 TO 7500 FEET.
THE FOCUS OF HEAVY RAIN WILL BE OVER THE WASHINGTON CASCADES
FROM AROUND SNOQUALMIE PASS SOUTHWARD THIS MORNING...SHIFT
NORTHWARD THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...AND THEN DECREASE ON
WEDNESDAY.

* FLOODING IS POSSIBLE ON THE MOST FLOOD-PRONE RIVERS THAT FLOW
OFF THE WEST SLOPES OF THE CASCADES. THAT INCLUDES THE COWLITZ
RIVER...THE REACH OF THE PUYALLUP NEAR ORTING...AND THE
SNOQUALMIE...TOLT...SKYKOMISH...SNOHOMISH...STILLAGUAMISH...AND
NOOKSACK RIVERS. OTHER RIVERS THAT ARE WORTH WATCHING INCLUDE
THE SKAGIT AND WHITE RIVERS.

* ANOTHER VIGOROUS FRONTAL SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA
WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY...BRINGING PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS
OF 3 TO 5 INCHES TO THE OLYMPICS AND NORTH CASCADES. THE SNOW
LEVEL FOR THAT EVENT WILL BE 5500 TO 7000 FEET.

* PEOPLE NEAR FLOOD-PRONE REACHES OF RIVERS IN THE WATCH AREA
SHOULD PREPARE FOR POSSIBLE FLOODING DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
