...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 10 PM
PST THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a High Wind
Warning...which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 10 PM PST
this evening. The Wind Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Winds...Southwest 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Locally
gusts could approach 65 mph. The strongest winds will occur
south of I-90 in the Columbia Basin, southern Whitman county and
along Highway 12 in southeast Washington.

* Timing...Winds will begin to increase after 11 am Saturday but
will be the strongest from 1 pm to 8 pm. Winds should decrease
late Saturday evening.

* Impacts...The potential exists for downed trees and power
lines across the region causing power outages. Drivers will
also experience difficulty driving, especially high profile
vehicles.

* Locations...Pomeroy, Dodge, Mayview, Colton, Pullman, Colfax, La
Crosse, Oakesdale, Uniontown, Ritzville, Odessa, and Coulee
City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take action to secure loose or lightweight outdoor objects. High
winds can topple trees, damage weakened roofs, and down
powerlines.

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

...WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 10 PM PST THIS
EVENING...

* Winds...Southwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Higher
terrain above 2500 feet could see local gusts up to 60 mph.

* Timing...Winds will begin to increase after noon but will be
the strongest from 2 pm to 7 pm. Winds should decrease late
Saturday evening.

* Impacts...The potential exists for downed trees and power
lines across the region causing power outages. Drivers will
also experience difficulty driving, especially high profile
vehicles.

* Locations...Lewiston, Lapwai, Peck, Culdesac, Gifford, Moscow,
Plummer, Potlatch, Genesee, Spokane, Cheney, Davenport, and
Rockford.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take action to secure loose or lightweight outdoor objects. High
winds can topple trees, damage weakened roofs, and down
powerlines.

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph are
expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
