FOREST SERVICE UTAH AVALANCHE CENTER.

THIS AVALANCHE WARNING IS FOR ALL MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN UTAH.
DANGEROUS AVALANCHE CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP BY THIS AFTERNOON AS
STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY SNOW OVERLOAD THE PREEXISTING WEAK SNOW ON
THE GROUND. THIS AVALANCHE WARNING IS FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH 5 PM MONDAY.

THIS WARNING DOES NOT INCLUDE SKI AREAS OR HIGHWAYS WHERE
AVALANCHE CONTROL IS NORMALLY DONE.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST MONDAY...

* AFFECTED AREA...THE WASATCH AND WESTERN UINTA MOUNTAINS OF
NORTHERN UTAH.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATION RANGING FROM 1
TO 2 FEET...WITH GREATER AMOUNTS IN THE UPPER COTTONWOODS.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL DEVELOP BY LATE THIS MORNING...THEN BECOME
HEAVY DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING ALONG AND BEHIND A
PASSING COLD FRONT. A MOIST AND UNSTABLE NORTHWEST FLOW WILL
MAINTAIN PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW THROUGH SUNDAY AND INTO MONDAY.

* SNOW LEVELS...IN THE 7000 TO 8000 FOOT RANGE DURING THE DAY...
THEN LOWERING TO ALL ELEVATIONS BY EARLY THIS EVENING.

* WINDS...PERIODS OF STRONG WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS...GUSTING IN
EXCESS OF 60 MPH ALONG EXPOSED RIDGELINES...ARE POSSIBLE AT
TIMES THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. THESE WINDS WILL RESULT IN
CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF NEW SNOW.

* IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS WINTER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE
WASATCH AND WESTERN UINTAS THIS WEEKEND INTO MONDAY. THIS WILL
IMPACT TRAVEL ON ALL ROUTES THROUGH THESE MOUNTAINS INCLUDING
I- 80 AND US-89. THOSE WITH TRAVEL OR OUTDOOR PLANS SHOULD BE
PREPARED AND PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS A MIXTURE OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG
WINDS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. DRIVING CONDITIONS MAY BE
HAZARDOUS. USE CAUTION. BE PREPARED FOR SUDDEN RESTRICTIONS IN
VISIBILITY DUE TO BLOWING SNOW. KEEP A WINTER STORM SURVIVAL KIT

THIS AFTERNOON...THEN LOWERING TO ALL CENTRAL MOUNTAIN
ELEVATIONS THIS EVENING.

* WINDS...STRONG AND GUSTY WEST TO SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP
THIS MORNING...AND REMAIN STRONG THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. WINDS
WILL SHIFT TO THE NORTHWEST THIS EVENING AND REMAIN STRONG
EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. THESE STRONG WINDS WILL RESULT IN
CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF NEW SNOW.

* IMPACTS...HIGH ELEVATION WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY. TRAVEL WILL BE
IMPACTED AT THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS THROUGH EARLY THIS
