FOREST SERVICE UTAH AVALANCHE CENTER.

THIS AVALANCHE WARNING IS FOR THE WASATCH...BEAR RIVER AND WESTERN
UINTA MOUNTAIN RANGES...THE WASATCH PLATEAU AND THE CENTRAL UTAH
MOUNTAINS.

HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS HAVE CREATED A HIGH AVALANCHE DANGER.
HUMAN TRIGGERED AND NATURAL AVALANCHES CONTINUE TO BE LIKELY
TODAY ON TERRAIN STEEPER THAN 30 DEGREES ABOVE 8000 FEET.

PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID BEING ON OR BELOW ANY STEEP SNOW COVERED
SLOPES UNTIL AVALANCHE CONDITIONS IMPROVE.

THIS WARNING DOES NOT INCLUDE SKI AREAS OR HIGHWAYS WHERE
AVALANCHE CONTROL IS NORMALLY DONE.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A WIND
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM MST THIS EVENING.

* AFFECTED AREA...CASTLE COUNTRY INCLUDING PRICE AND CASTLE DALE.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 55 MPH.

* TIMING...WINDS WILL BE STRONG AT TIMES THIS MORNING THEN WILL
BECOME MORE SUSTAINED AROUND NOON. THE STRONG WINDS WILL
CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING BEFORE DIMINISHING LATE IN THE
EVENING.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BE IMPACTED FOR LIGHT WEIGHT AND HIGH
PROFILE VEHICLES ESPECIALLY ALONG STATE ROUTE 10 THROUGH CARBON
AND EMERY COUNTIES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST
31 MPH OR GUSTS OF 45 MPH ARE EXPECTED. MOTORISTS IN THE ADVISORY
AREA SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR SUDDEN GUSTY CROSS WINDS WHICH CAN
MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT.

EVENING ABOVE 7000 FEET...

* AFFECTED AREA...THE WASATCH AND WESTERN UINTA MOUNTAIN RANGES
AND THE WASATCH PLATEAU.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...STORM TOTALS OF 10 TO 20 INCHES...
PRIMARILY ABOVE ABOUT 7500 FEET. LOCAL AMOUNTS OF OVER TWO
FEET ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 8000 FEET ACROSS THE WASATCH RANGE.

* TIMING...SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE OVER THE
MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN UTAH THROUGH THE MORNING. THE SNOW WILL
GRADUALLY DECREASE IN INTENSITY AND AREAL COVERAGE THIS
AFTERNOON.

* SNOW LEVELS...SNOW LEVELS WILL LOWER BELOW 6000 FEET THIS
MORNING.

* WINDS...VERY STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS ALONG RIDGELINES AND ACROSS
EXPOSED AREAS WILL CONTINUE TODAY. WINDS OF 25 TO 40 MPH WITH
GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH ARE EXPECTED. GUSTS OVER 80 MPH ARE
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE HIGHER RIDGES ABOVE 11000 FEET.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WILL MAKE FOR HAZARDOUS TRAVEL
CONDITIONS THROUGH THESE MOUNTAIN AREAS TODAY. TRAVEL ACROSS THE
SUMMITS ALONG MAJOR ROUTES THROUGH THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS WILL BE
IMPACTED AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS A MIXTURE OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG
WINDS IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. DRIVING CONDITIONS MAY BE
HAZARDOUS. USE CAUTION. BE PREPARED FOR SUDDEN RESTRICTIONS IN
VISIBILITY DUE TO BLOWING SNOW. KEEP A WINTER STORM SURVIVAL KIT
