...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO
10 AM PST WEDNESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow...which is in effect from 10 PM this
evening to 10 AM PST Wednesday.

* Snow accumulations...1 to 3 inches over the passes on Interstate
5 between Grants Pass and Roseburg. 3 to 6 inches over the rural
higher terrain.

* Snow levels...3500 feet this afternoon, falling to 1500 feet by
Wednesday morning.

* Timing...Snow showers will continue over the mountains through
this evening, then increase in intensity and coverage tonight
into Wednesday morning. Snow will affect lower passes late
tonight into Wednesday morning with a peak in snowfall as the
front moves through around dawn Wednesday. Another system may
produce similar snowfall and impacts Wednesday night into
Thursday as well.

* Locations include...Interstate 5 at Sexton Summit, Smith Hill
Pass, Stage Road Pass, and Canyon Creek Pass, highway 227
between Tiller and Trail, and highway 62 above Lost Creek
Reservoir.

* Impacts...Area roads, including Interstate 5, will remain wet
through this evening, then become snow and slush covered late
tonight into Wednesday morning. Travel will become difficult due
to slippery roadways and limited visibility.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PST
WEDNESDAY...

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 4 inches in snow showers through this
evening, then another 4 to 8 inches in heavier snow overnight
and Wednesday morning.

* Snow levels...3500 feet this afternoon, falling to 1500 feet
overnight.

* Locations include...Highway 62 near Crater Lake, highway 230,
highway 58 at Willamette Pass, highway 138 at Diamond Lake
Summit.

* Impacts...Roads will be slippery with a mix of water, slush, and
snow through this evening, then become snow packed and hazardous
overnight as temperatures drop and snow increases. Visibilities
will also be limited at times, especially late tonight and
Wednesday morning.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PST THIS
EVENING ABOVE 4000 FEET...

* Additional snow accumulations...3 to 6 inches.

* Timing...Snow showers will continue through the evening. Showers
may be briefly heavy and bring quick accumulations. Snow may
melt off between showers.

* Locations include...Highway 140 at Lake of the Woods and Mount
Ashland ski road.

* Impacts...Roads will occasionally be snow packed and slippery.
I-5 at Siskiyou Summit is not in the advisory, as
accumulations there are only expected to be an inch or less
with roadways generally wet.
