* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...2 TO 6 INCHES IN THE MOST PERSISTENT SNOW
BANDS.

* MAXIMUM SNOWFALL RATES...AROUND 1 INCH PER HOUR.

* TIMING...NARROW BANDS OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL MOVE SOUTHWARD
INTO THE SOUTHERN PART OF HERKIMER COUNTY LATE TONIGHT AND
CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF FRIDAY MORNING BEFORE WEAKENING.

* IMPACTS...SNOW COVERED ROADS AND POOR VISIBILITY WITHIN LAKE
EFFECT SNOW BANDS.

* WINDS...WEST 15 TO 20 MPH WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...TEENS TONIGHT TO LOWER 30S ON FRIDAY.

* VISIBILITIES...ONE HALF MILE OR LESS WITHIN THE MOST INTENSE
SNOW BANDS.

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE-EFFECT SNOW IS FORECAST
THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW
SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE
INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP SEVERAL INCHES IN LOCALIZED AREAS. USE

* HAZARD TYPES...HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...8 TO 16 INCHES ACROSS NORTHERN HERKIMER
COUNTY...WITH 6 TO 12 INCHES FOR PORTIONS OF HAMILTON COUNTY.

* MAXIMUM SNOWFALL RATES...1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR AT TIMES.

* TIMING...AN INTENSE LAKE EFFECT SNOW BAND HAS DEVELOPED JUST
SOUTH OF THE SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY THIS MORNING. THIS SNOW BAND
IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY DRIFT SOUTHWARD INTO NORTHERN HERKIMER
AND HAMILTON COUNTIES LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT. THIS LAKE EFFECT
SNOW BAND WILL IMPACT THE AREA MUCH OF TONIGHT WITH HEAVY
SNOWFALL...BEFORE SHIFTING SOUTHWARD AND WEAKENING ON FRIDAY.

* IMPACTS...SNOW COVERED ROADS AND POOR VISIBILITY WITHIN LAKE
EFFECT SNOW BANDS.

* WINDS...WEST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

* VISIBILITIES...ONE QUARTER MILE OR LESS AT TIMES WITHIN THE
MOST INTENSE SNOW BANDS.

* TEMPERATURES...TEENS TONIGHT TO MID 20S ON FRIDAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF LAKE-
EFFECT SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR
IMPOSSIBLE. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES
IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP 1 TO SEVERAL
INCHES OF SNOW PER HOUR FOR SEVERAL HOURS. VISIBILITIES VARY
GREATLY AND CAN DROP TO ZERO WITHIN MINUTES. TRAVEL IS STRONGLY
DISCOURAGED FOR TONIGHT. COMMERCE COULD BE SEVERELY IMPACTED. IF
YOU MUST TRAVEL TONIGHT...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND
