* At 1123 AM PST, heavy rain continues to fall with more rain
expected through midnight tonight. Around one inch of rain has
already fallen with another 3 inches of rain possible through
midnight.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Reno, Carson City, Beckwourth, Doyle, Gardnerville, Virginia City,
Chilcoot, Sparks, Dayton, Spanish Springs, Washoe Valley, and the
Carson and Sierra Valleys.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING...

The Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of western Nevada, including the following area,
Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area.

* Through Tuesday morning

* A strong atmospheric river will bring heavy rain with high snow
levels. This will lead to an enhanced risk for flooding in urban
areas and along creeks, streams, drainage ditches, farmland and
pasture land. Rock and mud slides are also possible.

* The Truckee River at Vista may approach flood stage early
Tuesday morning. Peak flows on the Carson River will occur on
Tuesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travelers should slow down and turn on headlights in areas of
rainfall. Persons living along small creeks and streams should
monitor the latest weather information at weather.gov/reno and be
prepared to take action should flooding occur.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST TUESDAY...

* Timing: Winds will continue to increase into this evening. The
strongest winds are expected this afternoon through Tuesday
morning.

* Winds: South to southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph
increasing to 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph this evening.
Wind prone areas gusting to 75 mph.

* Impacts: Damage to trees, power lines and property could occur
with winds of this magnitude. Expect hazardous travel conditions
for high profile vehicles along Highway 95 with travel
restrictions possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture and trash cans.
The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time by making sure you
have extra food and water on hand, flashlights with spare batteries
and/or candles in the event of a power outage.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST TUESDAY...

* Timing: Winds will increase this evening. The strongest winds
are expected late this evening through Tuesday morning.

* Winds: South to southwest increasing to 10 to 20 mph with gusts
to 40 mph this afternoon...then 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 60
mph this evening. Local gusts to 80 mph in wind prone areas
tonight and Tuesday morning.

* Wave Heights on Pyramid Lake: 2 to 4 feet. Small boats,
kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and
should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

* Impacts: Expect hazardous travel conditions for high profile
vehicles along Interstate 80 and 580, and Highways 50 and
95. A few power outages are also possible. Strong turbulence
and wind shear could impact aviation travel.
