THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HASTINGS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS AND
SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN
NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS...JEWELL...MITCHELL...OSBORNE...
PHILLIPS...ROOKS AND SMITH. IN SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...
ADAMS...CLAY...FILLMORE...FRANKLIN...HARLAN...KEARNEY...
NUCKOLLS...THAYER AND WEBSTER.

* THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON

* SLOW-MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE AND THIS COULD
LEAD TO EXCESSIVE RAINFALL AMOUNTS AND FLASH FLOODING.

* VERY HEAVY RAINFALL RATES OF 2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE
POSSIBLE.

* SOME AREAS WITHIN THE WATCH HAVE RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL RAINFALL
IN THE LAST 24 HRS OR WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS. IF HEAVY RAIN
FALLS ON MOIST SOIL...IT WILL RAPIDLY BE CONVERTED TO RUN-OFF.

* IMPACTS...FLOODING OF LOW-LYING AREAS COULD OCCUR. ROADS COULD
BE COVERED AND IMPASSIBLE DUE TO FLOWING OR STANDING WATER.
ROADWAY PAVEMENT MAY BE WASHED AWAY. SOME DIRT AND SECONDARY
GRAVEL ROADS COULD BE WASHED OUT. RAPID RISES COULD OCCUR IN
RIVERS...CREEKS AND STREAMS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION

...A FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM CDT MONDAY FOR
NORTHWESTERN NUCKOLLS...SOUTHWESTERN CLAY...NORTHERN WEBSTER AND
SOUTHERN ADAMS COUNTIES...

AT 943 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE EMPLOYEES WERE SURVEYING
THE AREA. EXTENSIVE FLOODING IS OCCURRING OVER SOUTHERN ADAMS AND
NORTHERN WEBSTER COUNTIES.

* THE LITTLE BLUE RIVER IS OUT OF ITS BANKS IN AYR AND PAULINE.
CREEKS FEEDING THE LITTLE BLUE WERE ALSO OUT OF THEIR BANKS. THE
CRYSTAL LAKE RECREATIONAL AREA WAS UNDER WATER...AND NUMEROUS
COUNTY ROADS WERE IMPASSIBLE DUE TO STANDING WATER IN LOW SPOTS.

* NUMEROUS RAIN GAUGE REPORTS INDICATED 3 TO 7 INCHES OF RAIN FELL
OVERNIGHT BETWEEN 10 PM AND 2 AM. THE HIGHEST AMOUNT REPORTED WAS
7.27 INCHES TWO MILES NORTHEAST OF BLUE HILL.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE AREAS OF
LOWLAND FLOODING AND RISES IN STREAMS AND RIVERS...ESPECIALLY
DOWNSTREAM OVER NORTHWESTERN CLAY AND NORTHWESTERN NUCKOLLS
COUNTIES.

* A FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE LITTLE BLUE RIVER NEAR
DEWEESE.
* FROM THIS AFTERNOON TO TUESDAY EVENING.....
* AT 9:15 AM MONDAY THE STAGE WAS 2.3 FEET. EXTENSIVE FLOODING IS
OCCURRING UPSTREAM.
* SIGNIFICANT RISES ARE EXPECTED NEAR DEWEESE TODAY.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 10.0 FEET.
* MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FORECAST...RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
CONTINUE TO RISE TO NEAR 11.0 FEET BY THIS EVENING. THE RIVER WILL
FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY EARLY TOMORROW.
* AT 10.0 FEET...WATER OVERFLOWS RURAL AGRICULTURAL LAND.
