The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a

* FLOOD WARNING FOR
the Red River At Shreveport, Louisiana.
* from late Friday night until further notice...or until the warning
is cancelled.
* At 9:00 AM Wednesday the stage was 28.5 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30 feet.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Saturday morning and
continue to rise to near 31.5 feet by May 27.
* Impact...Expect backwater flooding through Cross Bayou...Twelve
Mile Bayou...and lower McCain Creek. Also backwater flooding will
overflow onto Russel Road in north Shreveport. High water will
inundate parts of the bike path in Shreveport. High water will
approach the Teague Parkway in Bossier City. The river will be
very swift and turbulent with dangerous conditions for boaters.
High water will also approach the Riverside area of Bossier
City.
* Additional heavy rainfall remains quite possible over the entire
Upper Red River Basin during the next five days. Upwards of six
inches remain possible through this Memorial Day Holiday weekend across
the Red River and its tributaries in southern Oklahoma and north Texas.
Area reservoirs including Lake Texoma continue to fill as this very wet
spring of 2015 continues. Soils remain saturated across north Texas and
southern Oklahoma and nearly all of the Red River's tributaries remain
above flood stage.
* Past historical crests in Shreveport include 34.5 feet during
May 15 of 1990, 29.8 feet during March 5 of 2001, 32.82 feet
during June 11 of 1957, and 33.70 feet during May 8 of 1958.
* Area residents on the Red River need to closely monitor the weather and
Red River stages through the first week of June. A major flood event
could develop during this Memorial Day weekend through the end of May
and the first week of June. Be prepared to take action to protect
life and property should a flood warning for major flooding be issued!

* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Saturday evening and continue
to rise to near 31.5 feet by Wednesday morning.
* Impact...at 31.0 feet...Russel road will be overflowed and closed
between blanchard highway and i-220 in north shreveport.

The flood warning continues for
the Red River At Shreveport, Louisiana.
* from Wednesday evening until further notice...or until the warning
is cancelled.
* At 900 AM Thursday the stage was 28.5 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30 feet.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Wednesday evening and continue
to rise to near 31.5 feet by May 30. Additional rises remain possible
thereafter.
* Impact...at 31.0 feet...Russel road will be overflowed and closed
between blanchard highway and I-220 in north shreveport. High water
will approach the Fant and Teague Parkways on both tises of the river.
* Additional very heavy rainfall remains quite possible over the entire
Upper Red River Basin during the next seven days. Upwards of eight
eight remain possible through the middle of next week across
the Red River and its tributaries in southern Oklahoma and north Texas.
Red River basin reservoirs including Lake Texoma continue to fill as this
very wet spring of 2015 continues. Soils remain saturated across north
Texas and southern Oklahoma and nearly all of the Red River's tributaries
remain above flood stage.
* Area farmers...ranchers...and residents on the Red River need to closely
monitor the weather and Red River stages through the first week of June.
A major flood event could develop during this Memorial Day weekend
and into the final week of May.
