THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* A PORTION OF SOUTHEAST KANSAS...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
AREAS...ALLEN...CHAUTAUQUA...ELK...GREENWOOD...LABETTE...
MONTGOMERY...NEOSHO...WILSON AND WOODSON.

* THROUGH MONDAY MORNING.

* SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE THROUGH TONIGHT.
RAIN MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES. WITH GROUNDS ALREADY SATURATED...ANY
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL GO INTO RUNOFF AND WILL LIKELY RESULT
IN FLOODING. MINOR RIVER FLOODING IS ALREADY FORECAST FOR SOME
OF THE RIVERS IN SOUTHEAST KANSAS.

* THOSE WITH OUTDOOR PLANS ALONG CREEKS AND RIVERS NEED TO MONITOR
THE WEATHER SITUATION CLOSELY.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

AT 232 AM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED MOST OF THE HEAVY RAINFALL
HAD EXITED EAST OF THE WARNED AREA. CONSEQUENTLY...THE RISK FOR
WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAIN HAS ENDED FOR THE TIME BEING ACROSS FAR
SOUTHEAST KANSAS. HOWEVER...EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THE WIDESPREAD 2
TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN THAT OCCURRED ACROSS THE AREA YESTERDAY WILL
CONTINUE TO CAUSE AREAS OF STREET FLOODING...FLOODING OF VARIOUS
COUNTY ROADS AND LOW-LYING AREAS...AS WELL AS FLOODING ALONG THE
BANKS OF STREAMS AND CREEKS INTO AT LEAST SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO
HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

The National Weather Service in Wichita, KS has issued a

* Flood Warning for
The Neosho River At Iola.
* From this afternoon until Monday evening.
* At 3:00 AM Sunday the stage was 10.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
continue to rise to near 15.7 feet by early Monday morning. The
river will fall below flood stage by Monday morning.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Flooding occurs for about 1 and 1/2 miles
over Dry Lake Corner on 1000 Street north of Highway 54.

The Flood Warning continues for
The Neosho River Near Chanute.
* From this morning until Tuesday evening.
* At 3:30 AM Sunday the stage was 18.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
to rise to near 28.1 feet by early Monday morning. The river will
fall below flood stage by Tuesday morning.
* Impact...At 28.5 feet...Flood waters may flow across old Highway 169
north of Chanute. Agricultural flooding will also occur.
