...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE
TUESDAY NIGHT...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, Oahu
and the Big Island.

* From Monday evening through late Tuesday night.

* A slow moving cold front will move down the island chain Monday
night through Wednesday. Abundant moisture ahead of the front
will lead to the development of heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Initially, the highest risk for flash flooding will be over
Oahu and Maui County, then spread toward the Big Island.

* Excessive rainfall from heavy showers and thunderstorms could
lead to flash flooding of streams and low-lying areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous. Never drive
into areas where water covers the road.

Hikers and campers should pay close attention to the latest
forecasts, warnings, and conditions. Stay away from creeks and
streams, and strongly consider postponing your trip until better
weather returns.

Monitor updated forecasts and be prepared to take action should
Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
