has issued an Air Quality Action Day for the following counties...

in effect from 10 AM this morning to 10 PM EDT this evening.
An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone within the
region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. For additional

* At 919 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms which will be moving into the region between 930 and
1000 PM. This will cause minor flooding. Overflowing poor drainage
areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jamaica, Yonkers, Stamford, Flatbush, Norwalk, New Rochelle,
Flushing, White Plains, Mott Haven, Levittown, Hoboken, East
Tremont, Freeport, Valley Stream and Long Beach.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
