PST SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in Medford has upgraded the Winter
Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning above 2000 feet for Heavy
Snow and a Winter Weather Advisory above 1500 feet for snow which
is in effect from 1 PM Friday to 10 AM PST Saturday.

* Snow accumulations...4 to 8 inches above 2500 feet. 1 to 3
inches above 1500.

* Elevation...Above 1500 feet.

* Timing...Snow will begin late Friday morning and continue
through Saturday morning. Snowfall rates will become moderate
to heavy Friday night through Saturday morning.

* Locations include...Higher portions of highway 96 west and
south of Seiad Valley. Elevations above 1500 feet near Happy
Camp and Somes Bar. Higher portions of Sawyers Bar Road.

* Impacts...Those traveling, working, or recreating in this area
will see difficult travel conditions due to snowfall that will
create slippery, snow covered roads, and reduce visibilities to
less than a half mile or less, at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions.

* If you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets,
food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you.

* The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.

* A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is
imminent and poses a threat to life and property. Take
protective action now.
