...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 11 AM
AKST WEDNESDAY FROM TALKEETNA SOUTHWARD...

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow...which is in effect from 1 AM to 11 AM
AKST Wednesday.

* LOCATION...Talkeetna southward.

* SNOW...4 to 6 inches.

* VISIBILITY...One half mile or less at times.

* TIMING...Light snow will develop by late this evening then
become heavy at times overnight. The heaviest snow will fall
right along the Parks Highway corridor from Houston to
Talkeetna. Snow will diminish during the mid to late morning
hours on Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel may be difficult. Visibilities will be limited
in heavy snowfall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
driving.

THIS EVENING TO 6 AM AKST WEDNESDAY...

* SNOW...3 to 8 inches highest amounts in the Kuskokwim Valley
and along the Alaska Range.

* TIMING...Snow will spread over the area early this afternoon...
increasing in intensity through the afternoon and evening hours.
Snow will taper off from west to east from the late evening
through the early morning hours on Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...A winter weather advisory for snow means that
periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be
prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities...
and use caution while driving.

Travel may be difficult. Visibilities will be limited in heavy

EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO MIDNIGHT AKST TONIGHT...

* LOCATION...South of Bethel and along the coast.

* SNOW...3 to 7 inches...the largest snowfall accumulations will
be from Kipnuk east and south of Bethel.

* VISIBILITY...Reduced to one-half mile at times. The blowing
snow threat will mainly be from Kipnuk northward along the
coast.

* WIND...Northeast wind 15 to 30 mph.

* TIMING...Snowfall rates will begin to increase late this
morning...with the heaviest snowfall and strongest winds
beginning in the early afternoon. Visibilities will likely be
reduced during the afternoon and evening hours. Conditions will
begin to improve tonight.

* IMPACTS...Snowfall combined with strong winds and blowing snow
may produce white-out conditions at times. Driving may become
very difficult.

Travel may be difficult. Visibilities will be limited in heavy
snowfall.

* LOCATION...From Dillingham north and west.

* SNOW...6 to 11 inches.

* VISIBILITY...Reduced to one-half mile at times. The blowing
snow threat will be limited to areas along the coast west of
Dillingham.

* WIND...Northeast wind 15 to 30 mph.

* TIMING...Snowfall rates will begin to increase late this
morning...with the heaviest snowfall and strongest winds
beginning in the early afternoon. Conditions will begin to
improve by tonight.

* IMPACTS...Snowfall combined with strong winds and blowing snow
may produce white-out conditions at times. Driving may become
very difficult.
