The National Weather Service in Riverton has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
The Big Wind River in Central Fremont County in central Wyoming...

* Until 400 AM MDT Thursday.

* At 9 PM...The Wind River near Kinnear was near 9.0 feet. Flood
stage is 9 feet. The river crested near 9.4 feet Tuesday. The
river will gradually recede tonight. At 9 feet, agricultural
flooding occurs especially along the right bank. Wyoming Highway
132 at milepost 15.7 was reported flooded with an alternate route
required. This location is between US Highway 26 and Ethete.

* At 9 PM...The Wind River at Riverton was at 11.1 feet. Flood stage
is 9 feet. The River is near crest, and is expected to begin
receding after midnight Tuesday night. However the Wind River at
Riverton is expected to remain above the 9 foot flood stage until
midday Thursday. At 11 feet, some homes along the right bank are
inundated with water. Water begins to encroach on low-lying areas
west of highway 789. Extensive agricultural flooding continues
downstream of Riverton near the Black Bridge and Hidden Valley
areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks can become unstable and
unsafe.
