* At 203 PM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that heavy rain was falling over the area. The heavy rain will
cause flooding. Up to one plus inches of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Huntington, Parkersburg, Ashland, Ironton, Belpre, Point Pleasant,
Gallipolis, Ripley, Coal Grove, Pomeroy, Rio Grande, Elizabeth,
Chesapeake, Racine, Proctorville, Coolville, Rutland, Cannonsburg,
Lake Vesuvius and Forked Run State Park.


Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of streets
around Huntington. This highest threat areas for flooding are the
railroad viaducts at 1st, 8th, 10th, 16th and 20th streets. In
addition, the railroad viaduct at 14th street west may flood.
Flooding may also be occurring along 5th avenue between 24th and 25th

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and West
Virginia, including the following areas, in northeast
Kentucky, Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence KY. In southeast
Ohio, Athens, Gallia, Jackson OH, Lawrence OH, Meigs, Morgan,
Perry, Vinton, and Washington. In West Virginia, Cabell,
Jackson WV, Mason, Pleasants, Tyler, Wayne, and Wood.

* Through Sunday afternoon

* Waves of low pressure, along a front over the area, will bring
several more rounds of heavy rainfall. The front will finally
sweep through the area Sunday, as a cold front, bringing the
threat for heavy rainfall to an end Sunday afternoon.

* Flooding of larger streams, creeks and rivers, especially the
Ohio, Muskingum and Hocking rivers.


A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
