...WINDY AND MUCH COLDER TODAY...

COLD CANADIAN AIR WAS SURGING INTO THE AREA THIS MORNING...IN THE
WAKE OF AN INTENSE UPPER-LEVEL DISTURBANCE THAT CROSSED THE STATE
OVERNIGHT. WINDS WERE QUITE STRONG ACROSS THE AREA...GUSTING TO
AROUND 30 MPH AT MANY LOCATIONS. THE STRONGEST WINDS...WITH GUSTS
TO NEARLY 50 MPH...WERE OCCURRING OVER NORTHERN DOOR COUNTY.

WINDS OVER EASTERN WISCONSIN WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE EARLY THIS
MORNING. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL OCCUR BETWEEN DAYBREAK AND
NOON...WHEN GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED.

AT 450 AM...RADAR INDICATED THAT THE MAIN BAND OF PRECIPITATION
WAS NOW OVER FAR EASTERN WISCONSIN...GENERALLY EAST OF A LINE FROM
WAUSAUKEE TO GREEN BAY...TO CHILTON. IT WAS MOVING SOUTH AT 35
MPH. TEMPERATURES OVER EAST-CENTRAL WISCONSIN WERE STILL WARM
ENOUGH FOR A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW. BUT THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD
CHANGE TO MAINLY SNOW AS IT EXITS THE AREA.

SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS ALSO CONTINUED IN THE LAKE SUPERIOR
SNOWBELT OF NORTH-CENTRAL WISCONSIN. THE INTENSITY OF THE SNOW IN
THIS AREA WILL CONTINUE TO FLUCTUATE AS ADDITIONAL SNOW SHOWERS
FORM OVER LAKE SUPERIOR AND MOVE INLAND. BUT OVERALL...THE
SNOWFALL WILL NOT BE AS PERSISTENT OR HEAVY AS IT WAS LATE
THURSDAY EVENING. TEMPERATURES IN THIS AREA WERE GENERALLY A
COUPLE DEGREES BELOW FREEZING...SO THE SNOW WAS ABLE TO COVER
UNTREATED ROADWAYS.

THE MAIN BAND OF SNOW SHOWERS HAD MOVED OUT OF CENTRAL WISCONSIN.
JUST SOME FLURRIES REMAINED IN THAT AREA.

ANYONE TRAVELING THIS MORNING SHOULD USE EXTRA CAUTION. BE SURE
TO DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR THE COLD AND WINDY WEATHER THAT IS
OCCURRING.
