...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR
THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING ABUNDANT LIGHTNING AND GUSTY OUTFLOW
The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect until 10 PM PDT this evening.
* AFFECTED AREAS...Fire weather zones 641 east of the Tri Cities
and Boardman and the grassy areas of fire zones 643 and 645.
* TIMING...Thunderstorms will increase in coverage after 4 PM.
* LIGHTNING ACTIVITY LEVEL...4 which means abundant lightning
* PRECIPITATION...Storms will initially bring little
precipitation but will gradually become wet with some storms
producing moderate downpours.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly
in the grasses and shrubs. Outdoor burning is not
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM PDT FOR
CENTRAL BENTON...NORTH CENTRAL WALLA WALLA AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES...
As of 740 PM PDT, the public has reported flash flooding occurring
in the Richland and Kennewick areas in the form of water over the
roads or flooded intersections. Drivers should be prepared to take
alternate routes if they encounter flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
