LOCATION...THE OLYMPICS AND WASHINGTON CASCADES...NOT INCLUDING THE
SNOQUALMIE AND STEVENS PASS AREA

AVALANCHE DANGER...THE AVALANCHE DANGER IS EXPECTED TO BECOME HIGH
IN THESE AREAS WITH A NATURAL AVALANCHE CYCLE LIKELY BEGINNING
TUESDAY EVENING. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED
LATE TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY.

REASON...INCREASING HEAVY RAIN AND SNOW LATE TUESDAY THROUGH
WEDNESDAY WILL ADD A SIGNIFICANT LOAD TO EXISTING WEAK LAYERS FORMED
DURING THE RECENT COLD WEATHER. RAIN ON SNOW WILL CAUSE A NATURAL
AVALANCHE CYCLE IN MANY AREAS. ALSO...STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL

AVALANCHE DANGER...THE TIMING OF INCREASED AVALANCHE DANGER HAS
SLOWED AND IS NOW EXPECTED TO BECOME HIGH IN THESE AREAS WITH VERY
DANGEROUS AVALANCHE CONDITIONS DEVELOPING LATE TUESDAY OR TUESDAY
NIGHT. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED TUESDAY
AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY AS NATURAL AND HUMAN TRIGGERED
AVALANCHES SHOULD BECOME VERY LIKELY. CHECK THE FORECAST FOR MORE

* Flood Advisory for...
Southeastern Kitsap County in northwestern Washington...
Southern Mason County in northwestern Washington...
Southwestern Snohomish County in west central Washington...
Northwestern Pierce County in west central Washington...
Western King County in west central Washington...
Northwestern Thurston County in west central Washington...

* Until 1015 AM PST Wednesday

* At 413 PM PST, satellite and doppler radar indicate heavy rain
moving into central portions of Western Washington. This heavy
rain will likely cause some minor flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, Kent, Federal Way, Auburn, Olympia,
Edmonds, Bremerton, Puyallup, Shelton, Belfair, Renton, Redmond,
Kirkland, Sammamish, Lacey, Lynnwood, Bothell and Burien.

Additional rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected in the area. This
additional rain will cause minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

PM PST WEDNESDAY...

* TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS...WILL DEPEND ON PRECIPITATION TYPE AND WILL
GENERALLY BE SIGNIFICANT. AN INCH OR MORE OF ICE WILL LIKELY
ACCUMULATE AND WILL BE COMBINED WITH PERIODS OF SLEET.

* AFFECTED LOCATIONS...SNOQUALMIE PASS AND STEVENS PASS.

* TIMING...TEMPERATURES AT ROAD LEVEL IN THE PASSES WILL REMAIN
BELOW FREEZING WITH WINDS FROM THE EAST. TEMPERATURES AT HIGHER
ELEVATIONS...ABOVE 4500 FEET...WILL RISE TO LOWER 40S AT TIMES.
TEMPERATURES EAST OF THE CASCADE CREST BELOW 4000 TO 5000 FEET
WILL REMAIN WELL BELOW FREEZING THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THIS WILL
RESULT IN A COMBINATION OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET THAT WILL BE
HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THERE WILL LIKELY BE
SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS.

* MAIN IMPACT...HAZARDOUS WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED
THROUGH WEDNESDAY. CONDITIONS WILL POSSIBLY BECOME TREACHEROUS
AT TIMES IN THE PASSES DUE TO ICE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW... SLEET...
OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES... AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING. THE PASSES MAY CLOSE AT TIMES TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY DUE
