* Flood Warning for
The Skykomish River near Gold Bar
* from late tonight to Wednesday afternoon.
* At 10:30 PM Tuesday the stage was 14.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage around 1 AM
Wednesday and crest near 15.1 feet around 4 AM Wednesday. The river
will fall below flood stage early Wednesday morning.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet, the Skykomish River will cause minor flooding
of low pasture lands and low lying roads...including Index-Galena
Road and Tualco Loop Road. A stage of 15 feet on the Skykomish River
corresponds to a Phase 2 in the Snohomish County flood program.

* from late tonight to Wednesday afternoon.
* At 11:15 PM Tuesday the stage was 12.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage around 3 AM
Wednesday and crest near 14.2 feet around 4 AM Wednesday. The river
will fall below flood stage early Wednesday morning.
* Impact...At 14.0 feet, the Stillaguamish River will locally spill
over its banks. Minor flooding around Silvana will occur...
including over Pioneer Highway. A stage of 14 feet on the
Stillaguamish River corresponds roughly to Phase 2 in the Snohomish
County Flood program.

* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage around 4 AM
Wednesday and crest near 13.0 feet around 4 AM Wednesday. The river
will fall below flood stage early this morning.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet, the North Fork Stillaguamish River will cause
flooding of Oso Loop Road and cause minor riverbank erosion. A
stage of 13 feet corresponds to Phase 2 in the Snohomish County
Flood Warning System.

* Until this afternoon.
* At 2:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 16.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to rise and crest near 16.6 feet
around 4 AM Wednesday. The river will fall below flood stage this
morning.
* Impact...At 16.0 feet, the South Fork Stillaguamish River will cause
flooding in Granite Falls downstream to the Blue Spruce area and
Jordan Road. A stage of 16 feet corresponds to Phase 3 in the
Snohomish County Flood Warning System.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON...

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of northwest Washington and west central Washington,
including the following counties, in northwest Washington,
Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Skagit, and Whatcom. In west
central Washington, King, Lewis, Pierce, Snohomish, and
Thurston.

* Through Thursday afternoon

* Rainfall from the Tuesday/Tuesday night system amounted to
generally 2 to 5.5 inches over the Olympic Mountains and 1 to 4
inches over the Cascades, while the snow level was around 9000
feet. There will be some more precipitation today with the snow
level around 7500 feet, but it will be - relatively speaking - a
break between systems. The next front will move through tonight
and Thanksgiving Day, with a forecast of generally 2 to 4
inches over the Olympics and 1.5 to 3.5 inches over the
Cascades. The snow level will be around 7500 feet as this system
arrives, falling to 4500 feet late Thursday as precipitation
decreases.

* Flooding is already occurring on several Western Washington
rivers. With this second round of rainfall tonight and Thursday,
there is a possibility that flooding will become more widespread
and/or prolonged. There is at least a minor threat that any
flood-prone river in our area reaching flood stage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

...HEAVY RAINFALL TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING LEAD TO AN
INCREASED THREAT OF LANDSLIDES IN WESTERN WASHINGTON...

Recent rains have increased soil moisture to high levels across
Western Washington, with heavy rainfall expected at times this
evening and again Wednesday night and Thursday morning. At the
coast, rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are likely, with a half to
one and a half inches over the interior lowlands.

This amount of rain will lead to an increased threat of landslides.
