The Flood Warning continues for
The Skagit River near Mt. Vernon
* Until Saturday afternoon.
* At 2:30 PM Thursday the stage was 30.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 28.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to rise and crest near 33.6 feet
around 10 AM Friday. The river will fall below flood stage early
Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 32.0 feet, the Skagit River will cause major flooding
from Sedro Woolley downstream through Mount Vernon to the mouth.
Deep and swift flood waters will inundate many roads...farmlands
and residential areas. Flooding will occur all along the river
including headwaters...tributaries...and other streams within and
near the Skagit River Basin. This level for this location on the
Skagit corresponds to a Phase 2 flood in the Skagit County flood
system.

The Flood Warning continues for
The Skagit River near Concrete
* Until Friday evening.
* At 2:30 PM Thursday the stage was 34.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 28.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will crest around 35 feet around 4 PM
Thursday. The river will fall below flood stage Friday morning.
* Impact...At 32.5 feet, the Skagit River will cause flooding from
Rockport downstream through Sedro Woolley. Flood waters will
inundate low areas near the river...roads...and several residential
areas mainly Cape Horn...Hamilton and Thunderbird. Some water will
flow onto Cockreham Island and into the Nookachamps and Sterling
areas. Flooding will also occur in headwaters...tributaries...and
other streams within the Skagit Basin. This level for this location
corresponds to a Phase 2 flood in the Skagit County flood system.

...SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL THIS WEEK HAS INCREASED THE LANDSLIDE THREAT
IN WESTERN WASHINGTON THROUGH AT LEAST FRIDAY...

Recent rainfall has increased soil moisture to high levels across
Western Washington. Additional heavy rainfall occurred Wednesday
night through early Thursday afternoon. Lowland areas got another
quarter to one inch of rain during this period, which should
maintain the heightened threat of landslides.
