6 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
The National Weather Service in Burlington continues the Heat
Advisory, from 11 AM this morning to 6 PM EDT this evening.
* LOCATIONS...Eastern Essex County in New York, Western
Chittenden, Western Addison, Western Rutland, and Windsor
Counties in Vermont.
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...In the mid to upper 90s.
* TIMING...The highest heat index values will occur between noon
and 4 PM on Monday.
* IMPACTS...The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
levels will result in the potential for heat-related illnesses
if proper precautions are not taken.
A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned
room, stay out of the sun, and check in on relatives and

...Strong to Locally Severe Thunderstorms Possible Today...
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to
develop this afternoon and this evening as a cold front crosses
the area. A few of the storms may trend strong to locally severe
with strong wind gusts, torrential rainfall and dangerous cloud to
ground lightning. Areas that receive multiple rounds of storms
will be susceptible to ponding of water on area roads and
localized areas of flash flooding. North Country residents are
urged to stay abreast of changing weather conditions today, and
seek shelter if warnings are issued for their area. Boaters on
area lakes should also be prepared to seek safe harbor quickly
should threatening weather approach.
