THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE
FOREST SERVICE UTAH AVALANCHE CENTER.

THIS AVALANCHE WARNING IS FOR THE WASATCH...BEAR RIVER AND WESTERN
UINTA MOUNTAIN RANGES...THE WASATCH PLATEAU AND THE CENTRAL UTAH
MOUNTAINS.

A WARM WINTER STORM WITH HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL MAKE
AVALANCHE CONDITIONS INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS THROUGH MONDAY. HUMAN
TRIGGERED AND NATURAL AVALANCHES WILL BE LIKELY TODAY THROUGH
MONDAY ON STEEP TERRAIN ABOVE 8000 FEET.

RAIN BELOW 8000 FEET MAY PRODUCE UNSTABLE AVALANCHE CONDITIONS AT
LOWER ELEVATIONS AS WELL.

PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID BEING ON OR BELOW ANY STEEP SNOW COVERED
SLOPES UNTIL AVALANCHE CONDITIONS IMPROVE.

THIS WARNING DOES NOT INCLUDE SKI AREAS OR HIGHWAYS WHERE
AVALANCHE CONTROL IS NORMALLY DONE.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MST MONDAY
ABOVE 7000 FEET...

* AFFECTED AREA...THE WASATCH AND WESTERN UINTA MOUNTAIN RANGES
AND THE WASATCH PLATEAU.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...STORM TOTALS OF 10 TO 20 INCHES...
PRIMARILY ABOVE ABOUT 7500 FEET. LOCAL AMOUNTS OF OVER TWO FEET
ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 8000 FEET ACROSS THE WASATCH RANGE.

* TIMING...SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE OVER THE
MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN UTAH THROUGH THE NIGHT. THE SNOW WILL
GRADUALLY DECREASE IN INTENSITY AND AREAL COVERAGE ON MONDAY.

* SNOW LEVELS...SNOW LEVELS NEAR 7000 TO 7500 FEET THIS EVENING
WILL BEGIN LOWERING AFTER MIDNIGHT...EVENTUALLY DROPPING BELOW
6000 FEET ON MONDAY MORNING.

* WINDS...VERY STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS ALONG RIDGELINES AND ACROSS
EXPOSED AREAS WILL CONTINUE TONIGHT INTO MONDAY. WINDS OF 25 TO
40 MPH WITH GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH ARE EXPECTED. GUSTS OVER
100 MPH ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE HIGHER RIDGES ABOVE 11000 FEET.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WILL MAKE FOR HAZARDOUS TRAVEL
CONDITIONS AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS THROUGHOUT THIS STORM. TRAVEL
ACROSS THE SUMMITS ALONG MAJOR ROUTES THROUGH THE NORTHERN
MOUNTAINS WILL ALSO BE IMPACTED AT TIMES.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS A MIXTURE OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG
WINDS IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. DRIVING CONDITIONS MAY BE
HAZARDOUS. USE CAUTION. BE PREPARED FOR SUDDEN RESTRICTIONS IN
VISIBILITY DUE TO BLOWING SNOW. KEEP A WINTER STORM SURVIVAL KIT
IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
