PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO
CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. DO
NOT ENTER THE WATER. TURN AROUND AND MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO
ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF URBAN
DRAINAGE BASINS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER
POOR DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING AREAS.

HEAVY RAIN. AN AREA-WIDE INCREASE IN RAIN COVERAGE TONIGHT
THROUGH THURSDAY AS THE REMNANTS OF ODILE MOVE ACROSS FROM THE
WEST.

* NORMALLY DRY ARROYOS...STREAMS...AND RIVER COULD BE QUICKLY
FILLED WITH FAST MOVING WATER...MUD AND DEBRIS. LOW WATER
CROSSINGS WILL LIKELY BECOME IMPASSABLE. SEVERAL RIVERS WILL
LIKELY REACH BANKFULL AND RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE. FLOODING OF
HOMES AND BUSINESSES IN LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS WILL
BE POSSIBLE. SOME FLOODING COULD BECOME LIFE THREATENING.
PEOPLE LIVING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE
ACTION IF RISING WATER IS SEEN.
