...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM CDT
* EVENT...Afternoon temperatures are expected to climb into the
mid 90s across East Texas and North Louisiana south of
Interstate 20. When combined with the high humidity, heat
indices will range from 105 to 108 degrees. However, some
portions of the advisory area may be affected by showers and
thunderstorms today, which will result in cooler temperatures.
* TIMING...From 12 PM to 7 PM CDT.
* IMPACT...Heat related illnesses will be more likely for those
outdoors, especially when out in direct sunlight.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
