AT 300 AM CDT...EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED FLASH FLOODING WITH
NUMEROUS LOW WATER CROSSINGS CLOSED IN MUCH OF BASTROP AND LEE
COUNTIES ALONG WITH NORTHERN FAYETTE AND NORTHERN CALDWELL COUNTIES.
COUNTY OFFICIALS CONTINUE TO URGE ALL PUBLIC TO STAY OFF OF THE
ROADS. UP TO ELEVEN INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN. FLASH FLOODING IS
ALREADY OCCURRING.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF UP TO TWO INCHES AN HOUR ARE POSSIBLE
IN FAYETTE COUNTY...WITH ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TOTALS BELOW HALF AN
INCH EXPECTED IN OTHER PARTS OF THE WARNED AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TURN AROUND...DON'T DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST FLOOD
DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.

The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Colorado River Above La Grange.
* from early this morning to Saturday morning...or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 12:00 AM Friday the stage was 15.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early this morning and continue to rise
to near 32.7 feet by this afternoon.The river will fall below flood stage by
tonight.
* Impact...At 32.0 feet...Moderate lowland flooding reaches the flood plain near
La Grange. Homes in the Fritsch Auf Subdivision on the south bank of the
Colorado River may be threatened if heavy runoff down Buckners Creek adds to
the Colorado River flow at this level..

The flood warning continues for
the Colorado River Above La Grange.
* from early this morning to Sunday evening...or until the warning is cancelled.

* At 1:31 AM Friday the stage was 18.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Friday morning and continue to rise
to near 40.3 feet after Midnight on Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood
stage by Sunday morning.
* Impact...At 40.0 feet...The lowest sites of a trailer park in La Grange in the
northwest quadrant of Highway 71 and the Colorado river are threatened. Lowest
homes in the Fritsch Auf subdivision have several feet of water in them.
Severely flooded roads and bridges near the river make travel and evacuations
dangerous..
* FLOOD HISTORY...THIS CREST COMPARES TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 41.6 feet on Nov 23
2004.

* At 3:10 AM Friday the stage was 13.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by Friday morning and continue to rise to near
29.6 feet around Midnight on Saturday. The river will fall below flood stage by
late Saturday evening.
* Impact...At 30.0 feet...Major flooding inundates homes five miles upstream in
Hidden Valley Estates, three miles upstream in Doty River Estates, one mile
upstream in Pecan Shores Estates just above Smithville and in Kirtley below
