KLEBERG-NUECES-
1134 PM CDT TUE SEP 2 2014

...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CDT
WEDNESDAY...
...RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY
AFTERNOON...

* COASTAL FLOODING...AN INCREASE IN LONG PERIOD SWELL COMBINED
WITH HIGH TIDE AND EAST TO SOUTHEAST WIND WILL LEAD TO MINOR
TIDAL OVERFLOW ALONG GULF FACING BEACHES...AND POSSIBLY
PORTIONS OF NORTH BEACH. WATER LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH
AROUND 2.0 FEET ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL TONIGHT...MAINLY ALONG
GULF BEACHES FROM PORT ARANSAS AND POINTS SOUTH.

* TIMING...RIP CURRENT THREAT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
COASTAL FLOODING THREAT FROM 10 PM TONIGHT THROUGH MIDDAY
WEDNESDAY.

* IMPACTS...DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR ALONG
THE GULF FACING BEACHES OF THE MIDDLE TEXAS COAST. BOTH THE
STRENGTH AND FREQUENCY OF THESE RIP CURRENTS WILL RESULT IN
SURF THAT IS DANGEROUS FOR SWIMMERS...ESPECIALLY AROUND
JETTIES AND PIERS. MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW MAY RESULT IN WATER
REACHING THE DUNES IN SOME LOCATIONS...MAKING DRIVING ALONG
AREA BEACHES HAZARDOUS AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS.

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS GROINS...
JETTIES AND PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS AND THE BEACH
PATROL. PAY ATTENTION TO FLAGS AND POSTED SIGNS.

IF YOU BECOME CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...DO NOT PANIC. REMAIN CALM
AND BEGIN TO SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE. ONCE YOU ARE AWAY FROM THE
FORCE OF THE RIP CURRENT...BEGIN TO SWIM BACK TO THE BEACH. DO
NOT ATTEMPT TO SWIM DIRECTLY AGAINST A RIP CURRENT. EVEN A STRONG
SWIMMER CAN BECOME EXHAUSTED QUICKLY.

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.
