* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
FAYETTE COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS...
BASTROP COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS...
CENTRAL CALDWELL COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS...
LEE COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS...

* UNTIL 300 PM CDT

* AT 1145 AM CDT...EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED ONGOING
WIDESPREAD FLOODING IMPACTS FROM 6 TO 10 INCHES OF RAIN THAT FELL
OVERNIGHT. NUMEROUS IMPASSABLE ROADWAYS...ROAD CLOSURES...AND LOW
WATER CROSSINGS WERE REPORTED AS WELL AS SWOLLEN
CREEKS...RIVERS...AND STREAMS WITHIN THE WARNED AREA. A CIVIL
EMERGENCY MESSAGE STATING DANGEROUS FLOODING IS ONGOING HAS ALSO
BEEN ISSUED FOR BASTROP COUNTY.

* ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE
WARNED AREA WITH THE NEW DEVELOPMENT OF RAINFALL THIS AFTERNOON.
THIS COULD CONTINUE OR PERHAPS WORSEN THE FLOODING ALREADY ONGOING
WITHIN THE WARNED AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TURN AROUND...DON'T DROWN WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED ROADS. MOST FLOOD
DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNED AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.

* A PORTION OF SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
AREAS...BASTROP...BURNET...CALDWELL...DE WITT...FAYETTE...
GONZALES...HAYS...LAVACA...LEE...TRAVIS AND WILLIAMSON.

* THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON

* RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES.

* SOILS ARE VERY SATURATED FROM RECENT RAINS AND RUNOFF WILL BE
MORE RAPID INTO AREA RIVERS...CREEKS...STREAMS...AND LOW LYING
AREAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

The flood warning continues for the Colorado River Near Smithville.
* At 9:20 AM Friday the stage was 24.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river level will continue rising to around 29.2 feet by early
Saturday morning. The river level is expected to fall below flood stage Saturday
evening.
* Impact...At 30.0 feet...Major flooding inundates homes five miles upstream in
Hidden Valley Estates, three miles upstream in Doty River Estates, one mile
upstream in Pecan Shores Estates just above Smithville and in Kirtley below
Smithville..

The flood warning continues for the Colorado River Above La Grange.
* At 9:16 AM Friday the stage was 34.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river level will continue rising to around 43.7 feet by early
Saturday morning. The river level is expected to fall below flood stage Sunday
morning.
* Impact...At 43.0 feet...Disastrous flooding of the Colorado River damages
several mobile homes in La Grange and five permanent homes in the Fritsch Auf
subdivision are flooded up to six to seven feet. Severely flooded roads and
bridges near the river make travel and evacuations dangerous..
