The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* Flood Advisory for Rapid Creek and Stream Rises in...
Hamilton County in central Texas...
Erath County in north central Texas...
Northern Coryell County in central Texas...
Lampasas County in central Texas...
Mills County in central Texas...
Comanche County in central Texas...

* Until 130 PM CDT.

* At 1124 AM CDT, Doppler radar and rain gauges indicated heavy
rainfall which is causing minor flooding across from Comanche to
Stephenville, south along U.S. 281 and including Highways 377, 16,
and 84 to Lometa, Evant, and just north of Gatesville. Automated
rain gauges in the area have already reported 1 to 3 inches with
isolated amounts to 4 inches. This means some low water crossings
in the region are likely covered with water and are impassable, or
may become impassable shortly. Heavy rainfall is coming to an end,
but it will take additional time for flood waters to recede.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Stephenville, Gatesville, Comanche, Dublin, Hamilton, De Leon,
Goldthwaite, Hico, Gorman, Gustine, Evant, Mullin, Huckabay,
Lometa, South Mountain and Us-190 Near The San Saba-
Lampasas County Line.

Additional rainfall of a quarter to half inch remains possibe
into the early afternoon hours, though rain areas are diminishing in
coverage. Any additional rain will only exacerbate ongoing, minor


Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
