...Snowy system headed toward the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles
this weekend...

A storm system will gather strength across the 4-corners region on
Friday night and then it will dive southeast into central and
southeast New Mexico by mid day Saturday. This system will then
move northeast across the southern Texas Panhandle Saturday
night.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the
Panhandles Friday afternoon into Friday evening. Rain will start
to change to snow across the western Oklahoma Panhandle and the
northwest Texas Panhandle late Friday night. The snow will then
spread south and east across much of the Panhandles by Saturday
night into Sunday morning.

At this time, it looks like the best chances of accumulating snow
will be along and northwest of a line from Lipscomb to Amarillo
and Canyon. Greater than 3 inches of snow will be possible across
the western and central Oklahoma Panhandle and the northwest
quarter of the Texas Panhandle. In addition, strong north winds
may cause low visibilities in blowing snow.

The track of the upper level storm system may change which would
greatly alter the expected snow amounts across the region. Stay
tuned for later updates on this developing winter system.
