The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of North Mississippi and West Tennessee, including
the following areas, in North Mississippi, Calhoun, Coahoma,
DeSoto, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Tallahatchie,
Tate, Tunica, and Yalobusha. In West Tennessee, Crockett,
Dyer, Fayette, Haywood, Lake, Lauderdale, Obion, Shelby, and

* Through late afternoon

* Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected to produce
between 1 to 3 inches across the watch area, with rainfall of
up to 2 inches possible in as little as 30 minutes.

* Recent rainfall has saturated soils across the watch area. Any
additional heavy rainfall may result in the potential for
flash flooding and subsequent river flooding.


A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

* until Tuesday May 2.
* At 9 PM Saturday the stage was 23.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 34.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to near 32.5 feet Tuesday May 9.
* At 33.0 feet...In Memphis, Rivergate Drive could begin to flood
north of the rail yards. In Arkansas, settlement at Blue Lake is
flooded. Most all secondary roads east of the Arkansas levee are

*The river will rise quickly if the heavy rain occurs.

* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
At 21.0 feet, Brief road is flooding.

Advisory, which is in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening.

* WINDS...south winds sustained of 20 to 30 mph...with gusts to
40 mph

* TIMING...Through late afternoon today.

* IMPACTS...Loose outdoor items will be vulnerable in the wind.
Driving may become hazardous...especially for high profile
vehicles on west to east roadways.


A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 25 to 39 mph are
expected...or gusts will range between 40 and 57 mph. Winds this
strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile
