SATURDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MORRISTOWN HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING.

* EVENT...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 4 AND 8 INCHES ARE EXPECTED
FOR LOCATIONS MAINLY ABOVE 2500 FEET. SOME OF THE HIGHEST PEAKS
IN THE TENNESSEE MOUNTAINS COULD RECEIVE BETWEEN 8 AND 14 INCHES.
ELEVATIONS BELOW 2500 FEET COULD RECEIVE BETWEEN 1 AND 4 INCHES.

* TIMING...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW BEGINNING FRIDAY
EVENING...FIRST AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS THEN DOWN TO VALLEY
LOCATIONS BY LATE FRIDAY NIGHT. SNOW SHOWERS WILL LIKELY CONTINUE
THROUGH SATURDAY IN HIGHER ELEVATIONS BEFORE DIMINISHING SATURDAY
EVENING.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BECOME HAZARDOUS ON ROADS ACROSS
THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA AND EAST TENNESSEE.
DOWNED TREES WILL BE POSSIBLE DUE TO THE SNOW ACCUMULATING ON
FOLIAGE STILL LEFT ON MANY TREES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. FUTURE DRIVING CONDITIONS MAY BECOME
HAZARDOUS...SO CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
