FRIDAY FOR THE WESTERN AND CENTRAL COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE AND THE
UPPER HOOD RIVER VALLEY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THURSDAY TO 4 PM PST
FRIDAY.

* TIMING...MID THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY. THE BULK OF THIS
EVENT WILL BE SNOW. SOME FREEZING RAIN OR SLEET WILL SPREAD INTO
THE WESTERN GORGE THURSDAY NIGHT BUT THE EASTERN SECTIONS MAY
NOT CHANGE OVER TO MIXED PRECIPITATION UNTIL FRIDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...5 TO 10 INCHES.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...A TENTH TO A QUARTER INCH OF ICE IS
POSSIBLE THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY.

* WIND...EAST WINDS GUSTING TO 55 TO 70 MPH ALONG THE COLUMBIA
RIVER WILL LEAD TO VERY COLD WIND CHILLS...BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT...WITH NEAR ZERO
VISIBILITY AT TIMES DUE TO BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. POWER
OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW, SLEET,

THE SOUTH AROUND SUNRISE AND SPREADING NORTH THROUGH THE
MORNING...TURNING TO MOSTLY RAIN OR SNOW LATER THURSDAY NIGHT
AND FRIDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...5 TO 10 INCHES.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...LOCAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE TENTH OF AN
INCH.

* SNOW LEVELS...SNOW LEVELS WILL RISE TO AROUND 4500 FEET LATE
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT AS ROADS BECOME SNOW
