...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM MDT /2 PM PDT/ THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast Oregon and
southeast Oregon, including the following areas, in northeast
Oregon, Baker County. In southeast Oregon, Harney County and
* from 3 PM MDT /2 PM PDT/ this afternoon through late tonight.
* Thunderstorms with heavy rain...up to 2 inches in some
areas...are expected this afternoon and into the night. These
storms may also bring wind gusts near 60 mph.
* Impacts: Areas most prone to flash flooding include small creeks
and streams in steep terrain, wildfire burn scars, and normally
dry washes. Rock slides and debris/water flows over roadways are
possible in these areas. These can be deep and fast enough to
wash vehicles away.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
