THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS UPGRADED THE WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY TO A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND ICE
FOR THE LANE COUNTY CASCADES...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 6
PM PST THURSDAY.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN BEFORE SUNRISE THURSDAY...CHANGING TO
SLEET OR FREEZING RAIN BY MIDDAY EXCEPT NEAR THE CASCADE CREST
AND PASSES. SNOW WILL PERSIST NEAR THE CREST AND PASSES THROUGH
AFTERNOON. ALL PRECIPITATION SHOULD CHANGE TO RAIN BY THURSDAY
EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...8 TO 14 INCHES NEAR THE CREST AND PASSES.
LESSER ACCUMULATIONS ELSEWHERE...3 TO 7 INCHES.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...GENERALLY ONE TO TWO TENTHS OF AN INCH OF
ICE...THOUGH SOME PROTECTED CASCADE VALLEYS AND PASSES MAY SEE
AS MUCH AS ONE HALF INCH OF ICE.

* SNOW LEVELS...RISING TO 6000 FEET OR HIGHER BY LATE THURSDAY
AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BECOME VERY DIFFICULT THURSDAY AS ROADS
BECOME SNOW COVERED OR ICY...ESPECIALLY ACROSS WILLAMETTE PASS.

MAINLY BE FREEZING RAIN BY AROUND 10 AM.
