THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A COASTAL
FLOOD ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 4 PM PST
MONDAY. A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM PST
THIS AFTERNOON.

* TIDES: THE OBSERVED HIGH TIDE THIS MORNING WAS OBSERVED AROUND
11 FT AT TOKE POINT AND SOUTH BEACH...AND 11.5 FT AT ASTORIA
WITH TIDAL ANOMALIES OF AROUND 1.5 FT. THE HIGH TIDE TOMORROW
AFTERNOON AROUND 1 PM IS EXPECTED TO BE OF A SIMILAR MAGNITUDE.

* RIVER FLOWS: FLOW ON THE COASTAL RIVERS REMAINS HIGH AS A RESULT
OF ABUNDANT RAINFALL RECIEVED YESTERDAY. WHILE FLOWS WILL BE
DECREASING IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS...THEY WILL REMAIN HIGH ENOUGH
FOR THE MIDDAY HIGH TIDE TOMORROW TO CONTRIBUTE TO MINOR TIDAL
OVERFLOW.

* TIMING: ANY MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW WILL LIKELY EASE BY 3 OR 4 PM
SUNDAY AS THE TIDE CONTINUES TO MOVE OUT. HOWEVER...MINOR TIDAL
OVERFLOW CAN AGAIN BE EXPECTED DURING THE HIGH TIDE AROUND 1 PM
MONDAY WITH IMPACTS LIKELY OCCURING BETWEEN 10 AM AND 4 PM.

* IMPACTS: AFFECTED LOCATIONS WILL INCLUDE LOW LYING AREAS NEAR
BAYS AND SLOUGHS...HIGHWAY 101...AND THE LOWER REACHES OF
COASTAL RIVERS. LOW LYING AREAS NEAR THE CITY OF ASTORIA...NEAR
HIGHWAY 101 IN TILLAMOOK...AND HIGHWAY 126 EAST OF FLORENCE WERE
IMPACTED TODAY AND MAY ALSO SEE MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW ON MONDAY.
THESE IMPACTS SHOULD EASE AS THE TIDE MOVES OUT AGAIN MONDAY
AFTERNOON.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES

The Flood Warning continues for
The Siuslaw River near Mapleton.
* At 12 PM Sunday the stage was...22.0 feet / 31530 cfs.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet and flood flow is 22400 cfs.
* Forecast...This river crested at 22.5 ft at 12/21 10:00 am. This river
is expected to fall below flood stage around 2 AM Monday and
continue falling for the next couple days.
* Impact...Above 22 ft, expect widespread flooding of low-lying land.
Several homes and structures in low areas of Mapleton start to
flood. Numerous rural roads along and near the Siuslaw River will
likely be flooded, and water begins to cover the lower sections of
Hwy 126 at this stage. Flooding may be exacerbated during high
tide.

WILLAMETTE TRIBUTARIES. SOME OF THE SLOWER RESPONDING RIVERS
WILL CONTINUE TO RISE AND APPROACH FLOOD STAGE OVER THE NEXT
COUPLE OF DAYS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

LANDSLIDES AND DEBRIS FLOWS ARE POSSIBLE DURING THIS FLOOD EVENT.
PEOPLE...STRUCTURES AND ROADS LOCATED BELOW STEEP SLOPES...IN
CANYONS AND NEAR THE MOUTHS OF CANYONS MAY BE AT SERIOUS RISK
FROM RAPIDLY MOVING LANDSLIDES.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
