The Flood Warning continues for
The Illinois River near Tahlequah
* until Tuesday afternoon, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 7:00 AM Sunday, the stage was 21.41 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Record flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The Illinois River near Tahlequah will continue rising
to near 32.1 feet Monday before dawn. The river will fall below
flood stage late Tuesday morning.
* Impact...At 31.0 feet, devastating flooding occurs along the
Illinois River from near Hanging Rock to the headwaters of Lake
Tenkiller. Impacts will be similar to the record flood of 30.7 feet
in December 2015. State Highway 10 is closed northeast of its
intersection with Highway 51. Many cabins and parks are severely
flooded or are totally isolated for an extended duration. This is a
very dangerous and life threatening situation.

The Flood Warning continues for
The Illinois River at Chewey.
* until late Monday night, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 8:15 AM Sunday, the stage was 26.20 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The Illinois River at Chewey will continue rising to
near 35.3 feet this evening. The river is expected to fall below
flood stage Monday evening.
* Impact...At 32.0 feet, disastrous flooding occurs from near Fidler's
Bend to near Hanging Rock. This exceeds the December 2015 flood of
record, when the river reached 31.8 feet. Chewey Bridge will remain
dry until 33.5 feet, but access to the bridge is cut off. Most
roads near the river, including Highway 10, are impassible, and
areas are isolated for an extended duration. Many permanent
campgrounds and cabins are overtopped, particularly in the Fidler's
Bend area. This is an extremely dangerous and life threatening
situation.

* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring but the river is falling.
* Forecast...The Baron Fork River at Eldon will continue falling to
below flood stage by late this afternoon.
* Impact...At 20.0 feet, moderate flooding occurs. Grazing lands near
the river become inundated. Low-lying areas near Camp Egan may
experience minor flooding.

* At 10:30 AM Sunday, the stage was 11.85 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The Flint Creek near Kansas will continue rising to near
12.4 feet this afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
late this afternoon.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet, moderate flooding occurs from Fidlers Bend to
Chewey Bridge. Floating the Illinois River is unsafe. Permanent
campgrounds and a few cabins may become isolated by high water.

At 1103 AM CDT, the heavy rains have ended however widespread
rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches with local amounts near 8 inches
of rain have fallen. Several roadways have been reported closed due
to the flooding and many low water crossings are likely flooded. The
high water will be slow to recede.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

locally higher gusts.

* IMPACTS...Winds this strong can make driving difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while driving. Be alert to
sudden gusts of wind which may cause you to lose control of your
vehicle. Extra attention should be given to cross winds and on
bridges and overpasses.
