THE EAST BRANCH AUSABLE RIVER AT AUSABLE FORKS.
* AT 4:15 AM THURSDAY THE STAGE WAS 5.9 FEET.
* FLOOD STAGE IS 7.0 FEET.
* MINOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.
* FORECAST...RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND
CONTINUE TO RISE TO NEAR 7.3 FEET BY LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON.THE
RIVER WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY THURSDAY NIGHT.
* IMPACT...AT 7.0 FEET...MINOR FLOODING CAN OCCUR IN KEENE. WATER
BEGINS TO OVERFLOW ONTO HULLS FALLS ROAD, ROUTE 73, AND ROUTE 9N
NEAR MARCY FIELD. HIGH WATER WILL IMPACT INTERESTS AT ALICE FALLS
NEAR KEESEVILLE.

THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* VERMONT AND NORTHERN NEW YORK.

* THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING

* MINOR FLOODING REMAINS POSSIBLE ON AREAS RIVERS AND IN POOR
DRAINAGE AREAS AS RUNOFF FROM RAINFALL AND SNOWMELT CAUSES WATER
LEVELS TO RISE. RIVERS HAVE BEEN ON THE RISE OVERNIGHT IN
RESPONSE TO SNOWMELT AND YESTERDAY/S RAINFALL... AND WILL CREST
DURING CHRISTMAS DAY. MINOR FLOODING IS POSSIBLE AREAWIDE...
BUT THE AUSABLE RIVER IN NEW YORK AND OTTER CREEK AND WINOOSKI
RIVER IN VERMONT ARE THE MOST LIKELY TO REACH FLOOD STAGE.

* RIVERS EXCEEDING BANKFULL WILL LEAD TO WATER OVER ROADS ALONG
WITH FIELD FLOODING. IN ADDITION...DRAINAGE AREAS COULD BECOME
CLOGGED DUE TO THE RAIN AND SNOWMELT WHICH WILL ALSO HAVE THE
POTENTIAL TO CAUSE FLOODING AND STANDING WATER ON ROADS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR MINOR FLOODING TO
OCCUR JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE ACROSS NORTHERN NEW YORK AND VERMONT DUE
TO SNOWMELT AND RUNOFF FROM RAINFALL.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.

* HAZARDS...STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS.

* WINDS...SOUTHWEST 20 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.

* TIMING...STRONG GUSTY SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP THIS MORNING
AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAYLIGHT HOURS. WINDS WILL TAPER OFF
TOWARD EVENING.

* IMPACTS...ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES MAY OCCUR ACROSS THE AREA DUE
TO DAMAGE TO TREE LIMBS AND POWER LINES. TRAVEL WILL ALSO BE
