The National Weather Service in Reno has extended the

* Flood Advisory for...
Rain and Snowmelt in...
South central Lyon County in west central Nevada...

* Until 1030 PM PST Sunday

* At 957 PM PST, gauge reports and local water management officials
indicated that very minor flooding continues along the East Walker
River from just above Strosnider Ditch downstream to near the
confluence with the West Walker River. Most of the flooding will
be restricted to farm and ranch land near the river.

Minor flooding is also being reported downstream of Yerington near
Miller Lane from Highway 95A to Aizzi Lane and Aizzi Lane to Pete
Hendrichs Road.

This flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of south central
Lyon County.

This includes the following streams and drainages...East Walker
River and Mainstem Walker River.


Residual runoff and necessary releases from Bridgeport Reservoir
continue to cause minor flooding near the East Walker River and
Mainstem Walker River including farmland and low lying areas.

The Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of western Nevada, including the following area,
Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area.

* From late tonight through Tuesday morning

* A strong atmospheric river will bring heavy rain with high
snow levels Monday. 2 to 3 inches of rain is possible in the
Carson Range with 1 to 2 inches through most valley locations.
This will contribute to increasing flows on rivers and
streams, with an enhanced flood potential Monday into Tuesday

* The highest risk of flooding is along creeks, streams, and
poor drainage areas Monday into Tuesday morning. This includes
creeks and streams that drain the foothills and the Carson
Range such as Steamboat Creek, Dry Creek and Eagle Valley
Creek. Low lying areas in both Washoe and Carson Valleys could
also see flooding issues.


Small creeks and streams are the most susceptible to flooding.
Excessive rainfall may also generate rock and mud slides in steep
terrain. Persons in the watch area should take time to clear any
blocked drains in anticipation of the heavy rain. Persons living
along small creeks and streams should monitor the latest weather
information at and be prepared to take action
should flooding occur.



Lake Wind Advisory
Western Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake-
411 AM PST Sun Feb 19 2017


The Lake Wind Advisory for Pyramid Lake is now in effect until
10 PM PST this evening.

* Winds: Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph
increasing to 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph in the

* Wave Heights: 2 to 4 feet.

* Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to
capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions


Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a
sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing
boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.
