The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Winter
Storm Watch, which is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through
Wednesday afternoon.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...The potential exists for greater than 10
inches across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and near Raton

* TIMING...Snow will begin Tuesday afternoon across the Sangre de
Cristo Mountains. Snow will increase in coverage and intensity
Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning as it expands across
the Raton Ridge. Snow will taper off Wednesday afternoon.

* WINDS...Northerly winds will increase on Wednesday. The
strongest winds will be across the Raton Ridge where sustained
speeds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph will be common.

* SNOW LEVELS...Snow levels will be around 8500 feet on Tuesday,
decreasing to between 7500 and 8000 feet Tuesday night.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Heavy snow may cause snow packed and icy
conditions near Raton Pass along I-25. Portions of Highway 64/87
may also be adversely impacted. Visibilities may be lowered in
periods of heavy snow.
