SLOPES SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS...EASTERN LINCOLN COUNTY...
EASTERN SAN MIGUEL COUNTY...FAR NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS...GUADALUPE
COUNTY...HARDING COUNTY...JEMEZ MOUNTAINS...NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS...
NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ABOVE 9500 FEET/RED RIVER...
QUAY COUNTY...RATON RIDGE/JOHNSON MESA...SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS...

* AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL SLOWLY MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS
CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW MEXICO TRIGGERING SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS OVER MUCH OF THE AREA. WEAK STEERING FLOW ALOFT
COMBINED WITH A VERY MOIST AIRMASS IN PLACE...WILL RESULT IN SLOW
MOVING THUNDERSTORMS THAT WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING VERY HEAVY
RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING.

* LOCATIONS WHERE THE GROUND IS ALREADY SATURATED FROM RECENT
RAINFALL WILL BE FAVORED FOR FLASH FLOODING. OTHER VULNERABLE
LOCATIONS WILL INCLUDE STEEP TERRAIN...URBAN AREAS AND BURN
SCARS. KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE ON ARROYOS AND SMALL STREAMS...AND
STAY OUT OF FLOODED LOW WATER CROSSINGS. MONITOR THE LATEST
FORECASTS CLOSELY AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION IF A
WARNING OR ADVISORY IS ISSUED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO
FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH

NORTH CENTRAL DE BACA COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL NEW MEXICO
EAST CENTRAL GUADALUPE COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL NEW MEXICO

* UNTIL 1000 PM MDT

* AT 604 PM MDT RIVER GAUGES WERE STILL INDICATING HIGH FLOWS
ALONG THE PECOS RIVER BETWEEN SANTA ROSA AND FORT
SUMNER...ESPECIALLY NEAR THE CONFLUENCE WITH ALAMOGORDO CREEK
NORTH OF FORT SUMNER. SMALLER CREEKS...WASHES...AND DRAINAGES
FEEDING INTO THIS AREAL BASIN WILL CONTINUE TO SEE FLOODING AND
STANDING WATER. U.S. HIGHWAY 84 REMAINS CLOSED BETWEEN FORT SUMNER
AND SANTA ROSA AND NEW MEXICO STATE ROUTE 156 ALSO REMAINS CLOSED
EAST OF SANTA ROSA WHERE FLOODING FROM PAJARITO CREEK OCCURRED
EARLIER.

* STRONG FLOWS AND HIGH WATER LEVELS ARE EXPECTED IN ARROYOS...SMALL
STREAMS AND OVER LOW WATER CROSSINGS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

HEAVY RAINFALL MAY RESULT IN FLOODING OF ROAD INTERSECTIONS AND LOW
LYING AREAS. WATERS MAY BEGIN TO RUN IN NORMALLY DRY ARROYOS AND
SPILL OVER THE BANKS OF SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS.
