THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE TAOS
AVALANCHE CENTER.

THE TAOS AVALANCHE CENTER IN TAOS HAS ISSUED A BACKCOUNTRY
AVALANCHE WARNING.

* TIMING...IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM MST THIS MORNING TO 6 AM MST
WEDNESDAY.

* AFFECTED AREA...WHEELER PEAK WILDERNESS AND COLUMBINE HONDO
WILDERNESS ABOVE 9000 FEET.

* AVALANCHE DANGER...THE AVALANCHE DANGER WILL RISE TO HIGH TODAY
AND TONIGHT.

* REASON/IMPACTS...POTENTIAL HEAVY SNOW COMBINED WITH WIND WILL
LIKELY CREATE WIDESPREAD AREAS OF UNSTABLE SNOW. BOTH HUMAN
TRIGGERED AND NATURAL AVALANCHES ARE LIKELY. STAY OFF OF AND OUT
FROM UNDER SLOPES STEEPER THAN 30 DEGREES.

THIS WARNING DOES NOT APPLY TO SKI AREAS WHERE AVALANCHE HAZARD
REDUCTION MEASURES ARE PERFORMED.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING BEFORE BECOMING SHOWERY
IN NATURE THIS AFTERNOON.

* WINDS...INCREASING THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. BECOMING WEST 10 TO
20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 30 MPH BY NOON.

* SNOW LEVELS...COLD ENOUGH FOR SNOW IN ALL LOCATIONS.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...ROADS WILL BECOME SNOWPACKED AND ICY. AREAS OF
REDUCED VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING SNOW WILL ADD TO THE HAZARDOUS
TRAVEL CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT
